The audio is right there on the original download, what the poster of the Apollo 14 video has done is take out all the static, and also made louder the back ground talking of the stagehand advising on the ceiling cable being lifted.

What it comes down to is that most US citizens are so God damned lazy that they won't even bother checking directly the evidence that NASA has provided on NASA's very own internet sites.

Once you have gone to the direct NASA site to download the relevant Apollo 14 video clip, rip the sound separately with something like VirtualDub. Then place the sound only in a sound tuner like Audacity. Then get rid of the static to clear up the astronauts speaking to each other, then also increase the sound on the part of the video/sound file where the stagehand is announcing the lifting of the ceiling cable for the wheels on the light rail.

Then you have confirmed for yourself that the loaded Apollo 14 video file on YouTube is true and accurate. Then what you do with that truth and knowledge is completely up to yourself. If you can be bothered to demand any truth and action from your government to bring criminal charges against the corrupt NASA organization. Then the bettor for you in regards to democratic transparency and a more truer republic with democratic ideals.

Yes I have, and it is all true and correct just as seen and heard in the Apollo 14 YouTube video. It is also plainly using your common sense for anyone that has any brain cells inside their head.

(and the fact that the video is a fake) while
the real action is on the other side of the
capsule...so, this is definitely odd and I would

Pretty clear on a careful listen he is saying "kick it closed." In any case, the number of syllables in "if you could close the gimmick" don't match up with the audio. This is clearly a mis-hear.

LOL. I had to look in the ALSJ before I could make out these words -- it's pretty garbled, Mitchell is really blurting out the last words. Looks like it is "Just hand it to me, I'm right here." (Or, more phonetically, "Just han' it to me, I'm r'here.")

Ah, at least the meat of this. First off, this is nonsensical. You don't use a cable to keep wheels engaged with anything, especially wheels that are "around" a rail. And "light rails" (actually, any kind of lighting batten or truss) is not used for other rigging. They are lightweight, loaded with fragile lighting instruments, and covered with electrical cables. You can't roll up and down one. Now, you could make a combined truss...

But this is interesting. According to the ALSJ, Al should be exiting the spacecraft before any other words are said. This voice that comes in is at a much lower volume than either of the two astronauts, and no part of what it says lines up in syllable count with what is in the transcripts.

However, that same audio IS available in an extended mp3 clip; this is identified as Apollo Control, Houston...and it is talking about something I was already familiar with in this EVA; a broken retracting cable in Al's glove.

Which is very interesting; this is recorded Houston-side while Al was exiting, and the video, if properly synch'd, should have shown Shepard on the surface. The video is far too lossy to see if this is happening, however.

But it is undeniable that the long break-in by Houston while neither astronaut is transmitting is of exceptionally poor audio quality in the YouTube video clip, but quite clear in the mp3 clip. It is also undeniable that the two clips line up syllabicly.

According to my hasty transcript of the audio from the cleaner of the two sources;

HOUSTON: We're ah one hundred and thirty-one hours fifty six minutes. The ah report from Ed Mitchell, um the cable on his wrist, uh this is the cable that holds the, uh, wrist uh glove uh -- it's a right wrist, ah, we ah do not expect at this point to uh for it to inhibit his mobility, uh, to any...appreciable extent. Continuing, uh, in the final phases prior to, uh, egress. This is Apollo Control Houston."

So I have to offer two comments here. One is a conspiracy theory.

The first is; what does the OP think is the mechanism described? Wheels do not belong on a lighting batten or truss (the term "light rail" isn't used.) You don't move lights, and you don't put moving scenery on lighting pipes.

Let us assume the OP means the astronauts were on flying harnesses to simulate low gravity. Well and good. Hook-up is a need and a procedure. So how is it done in theater?

I have had the opportunity to work with both Flying by Foy and VFX; I was not a flyer or rigger, but I assisted in some of the early rigging and watched flying rehearsals with great interest. (I've also been even more involved in circus rigging.)

For the stage, since the line can't pass through a closed hatch, the second astronaut would be the logical person to snap the hook during the last moments of egress. (Then someone else, probably a hidden crew member, would snap his line as HE egressed.) Of course, this being film, you would do better to start with both lines on, have the astronauts climb back into the craft, then start the filming. Less chance of error that way.

In neither case, though, would anyone be up on the cat. There isn't a need for it. A proper flying rig is run by a fly team on the floor. I mean...hoax believers HAVE heard of pulleys, right?

Actually, a good fly rig is more than a single pulley.

Your basic single-point rig is just a line. At the other end, it can terminate in a grab rope, or connected to an endless loop (I prefer the latter -- VFX prefers the former.) The only outside motion this system can exert is up or down. To make use of it, you plan the blocking so the flier is lifted when at an angle to the pick point, swings through a planned arc, and terminates at another location.

The next step up is the tracking head. This requires two operators; one controls up and down, the other controls horizontal tracking. This is the most common system in theatrical flying. There are variations on the top pulley; it can be a drum, it can even be a self-contained winch motor (that's what the Cirque uses).

After that, there is a two-axis system. The vast majority of two-axis flight in theater is done via two single picks and skilled operators. But some rare systems, for instance a Mary Martin over the house, will make a complete two-axis rig. These take up a huge amount of fly space and basically interfere with everything.


In any case, the only reason to have a technician in the grid is that something went wrong. And since this is film, why, you stop and fix it before resuming the shot.
