Recession Proof GLP... food storage ideas

Does anyone know about cheap Mylar bag sealers? Seems to me I've just seen expensive ones. Can you use Mylar bags in a Foodsaver unit? I did order some O2 absorbers.


Purchase the heat seal type and use a regular iron to seal them. It does take a little practice to do it quickly though. When using the O2 absorbers, it helps to have two people... once you get the bags loaded and everything set up, one pulls and places the packets while the other zips along behind sealing.

Once I got the hang of it, I started buying the largest bags and trimming them down to the sizes needed. Since I package a lot of things in meal sizes or herbs and such in smaller packages (for freshness), this has proven to be the least expensive way.
