Only a few months ago the guy was this young dynamic senator who was a great orator

Now suddenly he's this old greying mess who can barely string a sentence together without stuttering.

I guess it's what happens when you become President. The men in suits sit you down and say "now this is how it REALLY is", and by the time you walk out the door you're wishing you'd never learnt the truth.
