FEMA camp in Indiana early stages

This next picture is a gate on the east side of the Camp. It is about a 3/4 of a mile away from the main gate. :east gate:

This picture is a north view through the fence at the main buildings. The fence is 8 - 10 foot tall, and completely encompasses the property. :bldgs near:

No, they don't use those terms anymore hence FEMA camps don't exist.

There are such things as a Citizen Displacement Facilities by the Office of Homeland Security though.

This picture is a better picture of the buildings. I could not get a good picture from the main gate. The main gate is at the end of blocked road. :bldgs near:

That's no damn FEMA camp. That fence could be cut through using nailclippers. There's no in-facing barbwire. There's no lookout gun posts. The buildings look like a chicken farm.

Drive up and look at it yourself. I told you from the beginning of the thread it's in the early stages. Having guard towers right know would certainly cause people to question why they are there. It's been going on for about 3 years. Little by little they have added more fence and enclosed more property. I probably covers over 600-700 acres.

retreat and reorganization centers sounds sweeter. which is what they would be any way..anyone at shelters after katrina were free to come and go at will. just tell staff u be back so u do not lose your bed. ....

You get just a glimpse of a wooden guard shack on the southwest side of the camp. There was a guard near it as I passed it.

Note the newly planted pine trees. The did that around Atterbury several years ago around key areas. Now the pines obscure certain parts of the facility from observation from the road.

OP is there a way you could look up the plat# at the county courthouse to see who owns the property ? Of couse if it's leased that might lead to a dead end. Anyways, nice find.

Looks like someone's place who doesn't want to be bothered to me. It would need guard towers before I'd buy it's a FEMA camp. Seriously, that fence isn't serious enough for me to worry about.

I was stationed there from 2001 to 2005. I remember when they did that. I was in a Blackhawk one time doing hop and pops on m198 howitzer. The Blackhawk carrying troop and a Chinook was carrying the Howitzer. Anyways we could see all the trees being planted and the earth being moved around the base. At the time it looked like it was just grounds upkeep. But as the years went passed it was easy to see the entire picture.

I have not tried to do that yet. The land used to be an amusement park back in the 80's . I was told it went under from a lawsuit from a kid getting killed on a ride.

When you drive through Nineveh next to Atterbury, there's that fence that says US ARMY NO TRESPASSING, and all you can see are pines behind the fence now. That extends pretty damn far, too.

This place is super close to the interstate. A few miles away is a railroad track that runs from Indianapolis to Chicago.
There are many place on those tracks where a spur could be put in place that would lead to the property.

That off ramp location is disturbing.

The fence doesn't look too sturdy. It looks more like a utility place than anything else. I've seen the pictures from a few years ago, & it doesn't look like they've done much else to it.
