Quoting: Wraith1970I can download entire webcast college courses from iTunes, hundreds at a time and run music, etc. That's sick...I wish we had that here. I didn't know there was a slow vs fast FIOS. I can't imagine my pc being able to handle much more speed. LOL De Bunker Hiding in a Bunker. |

LOL Yeah it would probably be the same issue at my house. 5 year old desktop would putt along slowly. New laptop that is less than 1 year old would probably be slowed by the wireless speed barrier. |

I use the computer for hours, every day. --Google scholar (scholar.google.com) for scientific journal articles, etc. --Google books (books.google.com) for online book reading. If you like the book save it to your "library" list in your google account. --iTunes for free webcast college courses from everything ranging from medical to graduate engineering classes. --podcasts for everything from how to make souffles (Cook's Illustrated is the best for cooking) to how to dance for your husband (LOL). --News reading and writing... if I want to run an electrical wire up through a floor joist, there are videos on YouTube! The FIOS is more than paying for itself in the money it has saved us. I'm learning much more stuff, now with a high-speed connection, than I learned when I was in college full time, for the cost of the Internet connection. If TSHTF, I have thousands of hours of college courses and webcasts on portable hard drives that I can watch, 'cause I don't have time to watch it all right now. I could do all that with a SLOW Fios, too. But the FAST Fios, which has a next-step up in bandwidth, came with the package. High bandwidth versus lower bandwidth FIOS seems to make a difference when I'm downloading several video streams at once, which I hardly ever do. Sometimes I do set up to download a few hundred videos from iTunes (each college course can have like 25-50 hour long videos), and then start it to download overnight while I'm asleep. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 366482You get a one time $100 rebate and you are saving $40 every month? Yes, kinda cool huh? AT&T was $170 A MONTH for tv, data, and phone.... TV was through Dish Network and it was Sketchy at best. Data was AT&T DSL Phone was AT&T My new bill is locked in at $110, but I kept basic AT&T phone service for now.. Hence I'm only saving $40.
