Re: Whos using a USB stick?
Some of the advice on this post is of limited help, in fact pretty pointless. What on earth are you paranoids doing?

All communications with the Internet will leave a trail of IP addresses. There may be ways of encrypting data, and also using encrypted proxies. But there will still be trails.

If concerned about leaving data on the PC, Crap Cleaner (free) AKA CCleaner does a pretty good job of removing data from the hard disk. Two other free programs worth checking out (if you have the inclination and time:

1) BartPE - Free (create a WinXP boot CD or USB boot drive) also has lots of apps.
2) Microsoft Virtual PC - Free Allows you to install an OS inside a window, which when shut down, can be configured to delete changes.

There are also Linux LiveCD's, Linux booting from CD, and also in a window (Tiny Linux)

Also, do a search for a free program called restoration.exe. Can be used for recovering deleted files, but also for deleting references from the file allocation tables and hard disk.

Re: Whos using a USB stick?
Exactly at the poster above me (two posts I think, were he talks about IP trails).

Here is the deal. You have a fixed or dynamic IP address. And this IP is connected to YOUR full name and real life Social Security number because you are paying for your Internet subscription.

If you have four or five proxies, it does not matter because they can see you anyway by many ways.

If you think they can only see your IP address... You are so much mistaken. They can see the account name you are using under windows, they can see your system version and browser, as well as other important information.

Even if you are under several Proxies, there are ways to see you.

If you want to be untraceable, use someone else's internet, and a computer that has NO LINK to your real life. Use it in places that no cameras can take a picture of yourself using the internet in that place.

You must be invisible by presence, by your Machine (don't use your own machine), and by IP, don't be traceable by your own IP, use someone else's.

That is the only way to be safe.

And the most important of all: When you become tired, and your use of the internet is a routine, you are more likely to judge "bah.. no one is investigating me, no one is watching me... Just this once ill post from home".

And that is when they will catch you.

Actually they don't need to catch you then, but I promisse you that record of you using your internet from home to do your routine will be recorded and saved for a long time, and one day if they need to catch you, they will have the perfect link direct to you.

So, you must always be considering that the gun is loaded and you must be very careful with the trigger.

Re: Whos using a USB stick?
And Windows Vista..

OH MY GOD!

This system was made to catch criminals. It has so many features for forensics that it is scary.

I really think Windows Vista is called Vista because it means "Viewing, to View, Watching, The View" in spanish. And I don't think it is called that way out of a coincidence.

If you are using Windows Vista, please format your hard disk, burn it, throw it in lava as a friend said previously.

Vista is the worst enemy of someone who don't want to be traced.

It has memory archives, it has hard disk archives, it has logs for everything, and has even possibilities of internet logs to be sent out, and sent in.

It has doors opened, it has a system that gives so much information to a single website or any server, it is a monster!!! A ten headed monster!

If you don't do anything considered illegal, be free and go wild.

If you are a Anti-New World Order... Be very careful with your windows and if the FEDs arrive in your house, DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE YOUR VISTA POWERED PC, because no matter what you do, they will get something out of it.
