Thousands Apply for Wal-Mart Jobs
23 Newsroom

Wal-Mart held a job fair there over the past three days. The first day about 2,700 people applied.

Wednesday, 1,300 job seekers interviewed, and Thursday about 450 people applied. The thousands who do not get hired will have another chance.

Hiring for the new Super Wal-Mart store on East State Street in Rockford will begin in early March. There will be 150 open positions for that store.

If these retards don´t get hired at Wal-Mart then they can go across the street to Mc Donalds and get a job.I sure hope that they´re not so moronic that they can´t say "do you want fries with that"? If that happens then they are really fucked.....I hope that the Soylent Green technology comes around fast because we can then remove these tards from the world and make dog food as well !!!horn

Re: THOUSANDS Apply for 150 Wal-Mart Jobs
A.C., that´s uncalled for.

The point I tried to make is that people are so desperate they turn up in droves to apply for even minimum wage jobs.

I know men who were skilled and working in several different industries who never did find a job paying what they made before those industries closed down.

They took chit jobs to keep their heads above water and are just barely keeping one step from the poor house.

America, land of opportunity.

McDonalds here starts at $8.50/hr and has .50˘ additional for 2nd shift and $1.00 more for 3rd shift...They are eligible for benefits and $1.00 more per hour after 60 days...

As stated above, WalMart greeters start at $10.50/hr with benefits here...

I can´t keep unskilled labor on a jobsite for less than $15/hour...

Move to where the food is...

I think the problem was that back in the 80´s and 90´s jobs with high pay were offered that were not sustainable. now we have to live with that.

$6.25 per hour, 40 hour week = $1,000 per month.

Don´t spend it all in one place! Like on rent and utilities. What´s left over goes for gas to get to work, food, baby sitting, second-hand clothes, and a doctor now and then. Bad news if you have a car payment on top of that with insurance, inspection, repairs, and taxes to keep it on the road.

And we wonder why people deal drugs. Baby´s got to have a new pair of shoes.

I went to the 99 cent store, where they had Wal Mart calendars on sale, with the Walmart tag on it. I have been taking back four at a time, and getting gift cards. 40 bucks for four, when the whole lot cost me $15.

Notice that yet again when ´Pollyannuh´ is confronted with facts and figures she can not dispute, she clams up and runs to the next non-issue...

Anyone willing to work?...

The dairy farms around me start at $500/week for 5 days of milking...You have to milk morning and afternoon 5 days/week...The rest of the time is yours...They also give you a place to live, free cable and a vehicle (and usually all the milk, eggs and free meat you can handle)...

Any ´tit-pullers´ from the mid-west looking to relocate?...No field work...No tractors...All you gotta do is milk...

Look at the Burlington Free Press (Vermont) in the classifieds...

Also looking for all manner of techies...Know any RN´s???...Write your own ticket if you are an RN or have a teaching degree in ANYTHING...

Can ya handle a hammer and read a blueprint?

If all you know is the difference between a hammer and a T-Square, then all you are worth is $15/hour...If you can read that print and construct from it without supervision, you are worth $25/hour to me...If you can do that AND manage others at the same time, then we´ll have to negociate...

It is still almost twice my earnings as a senior programmer here in Brazil. I make US$3.41 per hour.

You should know that McDonald´s is almost a slave keeper.

When I was a hamburguer flipper, I made US$70.00 per month. Today I think they pay US$80.00.

I´d imagine Idol´s $3/hr buys a hell of a lot more than US´s $8/hr. What say Idol, is an average Brazilian home worth US$325,000? Is a car US$25,000? Is apartment rent US$1,500/mnth? Do you spend US$700/mnth/child for daycare?

Certainly a senior programmer in the US lives way better than me regardless of the fact the things are cheaper (in absolute terms) down here. Yes, with US$325,000 you can buy a Beverly Hills class mansion in Brazil.

whipscratchingscratching

Just curious...if over 4,000 people applied for 150 jobs, then what happened to the rest of the people that weren´t hired?

Do they just warehouse themselves until someone needs them? or do they just fuck off and die, so as not to be an embarrassment to the Perfect Capitalistic Order of the U.S.A.

Well God Bless Amurika.

You said: >>"Notice that yet again when ´Pollyannuh´ is confronted with facts and figures she can not dispute, she clams up and runs to the next non-issue..."<<

Yet again, I clam up and run??

A.C. since you ARE an A.C. I have no clue whether you´ve posted on any threads I´ve posted or posted to, but I beg the differ. I have YET to clam up and run. IF you read an earlier post on another thread I started you would have noted that I said I would be on and off the board as I had errands to run, and I´ve just now returned from a lovely dinner with my family. thwak

Please, try to stay up with me if you want to make an accurate statement about exactly what I do or don´t do.

I won´t touch the subject of jobs in your area, A.C., because it´s good honest work, and not a bad salary for a part-time job.

Where I live, 8th generation here, by-the-way, personally, we could not begin to live on that income, even with the freebies. We are doing very well, but the original post was about OTHER people.

Also, not everyone CAN live in Vermont, or the pole shift would happen a little sooner than expected.

I mentioned skill or service related jobs in another post several days ago. Even though I live in a very dense population area of the US, believe it or not there was a time several years ago when a friend of mine could not find a decent blacksmith/horse shoer. Imagine.

There may be many people willing to relocate, A.C., but the job situation changes, vastly, from area to area.

Thousands of people showing up for 150 Wal-Mart jobs just proves that.

Do tomatoes cost 3.49 a pound in Brazil? Is a loaf of bread 3.29? is all meat and fish 5.99-14.99 a pound? Is gas 2 bucks a gallon?
