Once they are in there they won't be able to spray if they can't lift their tail. Then I would just drown the pests in my pond by submerging the trap in all right to the bottom. Quoting: IkaikaDO NOT POUR BLEACH OVER WHERE YOU POURED AMMONIA! IT CAUSES A TOXIC AND DEADLY CHEMICAL REACTION THAT CAN COLLAPSE YOUR LUNGS! call your local animal control people and ask them if they can come capture them. That's what we did and they came and got them. They can carry rabies and are considered a public threat in our county. |

I contacted three different ones and the prices were all similar: $195 to come out and look at it $100 for each skunk they get $75 preventative measures They told me that chances were good that there were several skunks under the porch and that a typical skunk removal would probably cost me about $700. Umm no thanks! I'd rather kill the little buggers. |
Hiro Protagonist User ID: 501302 United States 04/28/2009 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, OP, OP, there's a simple powder you can buy at Home Depot that is for various pawed pests. It's a pepper-like substance that you sprinkle around the entrance to their lair and they will quickly depart. It irritates their skin. It worked 100% for me. It only costs a 10 bucks or so. If you want to try an even cheaper solution, buy a big box of black pepper and sprinkle that around. The skunks hate it and move on. Yours Truly! |

They chew on the wires and short out the electronics. We go to the Division of Wildlife and put down a $30 deposit for a live trap. Set the trap with a can of smelly cat food. After they get caught in the trap, you can throw a blanket or tarp over the trap and transport them to another place and release them. Or as my husband does, shoot it with a shotgun and dispose of the carcass. You can keep the trap as long as you need it and get your $30 back when you return the trap. |

Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it! when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support! :Brieffromnativea: |

What you do with them after that is up to you. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 665544 United States 04/28/2009 04:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Watch out for advice from all the loonies here. If you do anything to make the skunks spray, you'll have to live with the smell. When dealing with skunks, forget about traps, snares or shooting them unless you want to smell skunk for the next several months. My grandmother had a similar problem many years ago. The solution was to put rat poison in bacon grease and pour it on the path where they went in and out under her house. They got the grease on their feet and licked it off - end of problem. I've never heard about the powder from Home Depot, but if that's for real, it sounds like a good non-lethal solution. |
