Why this posteponement in celebration? Can any of our Dutch friends tell us?

No bets here... but your observation is sound. A few days ago, this date was being largely mentioned as a potential 'doom-date' for that very reason; it seems that the recent flu show has commandeered our attentions, but you might just put that aside long enough to watch another kind of a show play out today and tomorrow. Don't think the Queen's life was really at issue here, just the 'innocent' bystanders, but would they not sacrifice one of their own? Ask Diana.
