Re: world of warcraft players
Here's the lowdown on WoW. It is not a game. It is a social network centered around the acquisition of items. This is what your game experience will be:

Visit NPC A. A will send you to B to kill X amount of boars or whatever until you've collected Y amount of stuff that A needs. Return to A to collect your shitty prize.

Visit NPC B. B will send you to a quest in a dungeon that requires you to be in a group to complete. When you've finally killed the boss someone in the group will ninja the loot that you wanted.

Repeat these two scenarios a million times until your toon is all decked out in the best gear available. Stand in your capital city wearing your best gear so newbs can laugh at the fact you obviously have no life. Realise that Blizzard have screwed your ass and cry real tears of rage and regret that you wasted literally days of your life getting purple gear that no-one else in the world gives a shit about

Delete WoW, emerge from your gaming cocoon into the harsh sunlight of the real world and thank the higher powers that you got out in time.

Re: world of warcraft players
The game is different for everyone.

I enjoy it alot and have some good friends from college and work that I play with. We have a blast and raid casually.

I have two level 80's Priest and Hunter.

I have played many MMo's FFXI, Lotr, AOC, Guild Wars

But WOW is the one that keeps adding more and more content every patch to enhance the game and make it more fun.

It doesn't have to be a time sink if you don't want it to be.

I can get on, PVP for 20 mins and be satisfied then turn it off if I like.

Great game indeed, and theres nothing like Arena 2v2 with a good friend on Ventrillo :P

Wow was too cartoony and lame PvP wise IMO.
Dark ages of Camelot is>all IMO PvP wise.
Nothing like killing a FG+ of players with 1 PBAE caster and your uber Druid bot in under 15 seconds =)

Want a FREE MMO I have found Runes Of Magic is pretty fun.
But w/e your choice have fun.

Re: world of warcraft players
Be really careful with your WoW play time.

It is VERY easy to get addicted to this game and to get addicted quickly.

Apparently, during the design stages of WoW, the designers got all kinds of advice from shrinks and psychologists about how to make WoW as addictive as possible. It's all based on psychology, e.g. behavior conditioning and reinforcement.

And once you're hooked, it's a struggle to quit.

I know; I've tried to quit that damn game twice already. I'm on my third go-round, quitting-wise. It's been two weeks, hopefully I can kick it this time.

Re: world of warcraft players
Rogues & Hunters are EZ mode

I desagree. Try playing a rogue or any other "timed" char on dialup, you find that you die quite often lol.

Anyways to OP: I have a 70 paladin healer on Baelgun and a 32 rogue. I quit before the expansion pack came out but i was constantly reading stuff while doing daily quests and flying ect.
First rule of any mmo: DONT BEG FOR GOLD
Can't stress that enough, if someone would ask me for directions or how to build a character, I would spend all day helping them, but the first hint of wanting free gold, and out the door they went.

#2 stick to gathering professions, aka mining/skinning/herbing and you'll find you always have more gold for what you need, and if you ever reset, getting back to 275 is a one day job and free, instead of resetting say blacksmithing or enchanting (easy 10,000g to max) and nobody will buy your low level stuff anyways (everyone mostly needs materials)

#3 melee is generally easier to play than magic based, till you get the hang of it, aka warrior is generally easier to solo quest till 40s than say, a priest. Comes down to raw hp's (or lack there of)

#4 You can quest from 1-70 (not sure after, quit before expansion) for free, only using quest items for your armor/weapons, you'll have to do some reading of which ones to do in what order, but after, its well worth it. I've read some people quest to 70 in 2 weeks, not buy a single item and have 3000-4000g from it all.

#5 Read the guilds website you want to join before joining it, it will do you no good to join a raiding guild if your new and only level 13, other than maybe a laugh in chat every so often. make sure they do low level content.

#6 Getting ran through instances is fun, and you rack up lots of loot, but make sure you go back and do a proper 5man suited for the instance to get the feel and not miss the things, ment to be experenced.

Most of all, just make some friends and do the goofy stuff that dosent get you anything. I used to wear overalls, wield a shovel and march around /spitting backer on the ground. I personally thing roleplaying is downright stupid, once you go to far, but acting a fool in a game, lets you not do it in the real world so I guess thats a plus.

Heres my 70 B-elf pally in some kickass outfits lol

I fish and do first aid right now.
Last night I decided to do mining and cooking also.
I wouldn't ask for gold btw, I've played mmorpgs before and know how hard it can be to come by if you have to work for it through farming ,quests, and killing monsters.
what I needed most was info on getting started and thanks for that!

The best thing about WoW I ever saw was some video of a rouge group that totally smashed and attacked a funeral procession of all these unarmed idiots, like thousands of fucking losers who were all in mourning over the passing of a player.

Lmfao. I should google it or look for it on yourtube....but then again...nah I don't care enough to be bothered either.

Iv seen the same video. I was in awe too. Apparently it caused so much commotion, the members of the guild wanted to get the rogue banned from the server. Hilarious...

I ain't no nerd. The guy that commented on being a nerd for playing WoW, clearly never played it long enough. WoW is a great way to kill time when you have the time to kill it.

IMHO everyone should simulate their own lives the way they wish. Whether it be in the cyber reality or the very reality we humans correspond. Everyone's too busy with making money and buying unnecessary merchandise to be gratified instantaneously.

So for those that haven't tried it. You don't even need a top of the line PC to run the game. In fact, you can even run it on a mac. The monthly subscription fee is on average a mere $15.

Shyla, Which server you playing on? I wouldn't mind rolling a new tune on your server and help you out.

A night elf warrior huh?

I spent over two years playing the warrior class, level 70 dwarf and level 80 orc, 80 troll hunter, 70 blood elf priest and 27 undead rogue.

Warrior class is kind of hard to level I'd suggest to put your talent points in the fury tree so you can kill mobs faster. Questing is the fastest way to level up, make sure you character is resting (inns or cities) everytime you log off.

Warrior has an arms tree, a fury and a protection.
In arms you carry a two-handed weapon, arms was considered for PVP purposes (player vs player), is ok for leveling but not as good as fury.

In fury you carry two one-handed weapons (dual wield), at higher levels you can equip two two-handed weapons, fury does the most DPS (damage per sec) in PVE (player versus environment) and at the moment many people uses it for PVP.

In protection you carry a shield and a one-handed, this was my main spec, is used for PVE mostly but you can do PVP too but is not as good as the other trees. For PVE questing is good cause you take very little damage and you don't lose time eating, you can take many mobs at the same time (3 or 5). For PVE dungeons (instances) 5, 10 or 25 man you are what they call the tank.

you can still carry the weapons you want with the spec you want but each tree was made to equip in a certain way.

The stats you are looking for a warrior are Strength and Stamina.
Strength increases your attack power so your damage and block value (the amount of damage your shield absorbs).
Stamina increases your hit points, most important for tanks.
Agility is ok to get too but not so important, agility gives you armor, dodge and your chance to score a critical hit.

Warrior have three stances, Battle stance, protection and berserker. They are used depending on the situation you are, if you are tanking use protection, you get this one at level 10, it reduces damage taken by 10% and increases your threat. Berserker stance is for damage, it increases your critital chance but you take 10% more damage. Battle stance is a balance between the other two.

Warriors wear mail from level 1 to 39, at 40 you can wear plate. Plate has the most armor among the others (cloth, leather, mail).

Wow, I should write a book...
Spent so much time playing that game, it was fun but abused it. You don't really get anything from it other than entertainment. I've found better things to do with my time.

Good luck in WoW and I hope this info helps.

Re: world of warcraft players
About making gold.

If its your first char, try to buy nothing (or close to that) from the AH. Quest rewards will do just fine. It really adds up. The leveling gear at the AH is usually for rip-off prices for a new player, since these evil level 80 players often have tens of thousands of gold. So something like 100g is often valued like close to nothing by them, while its definitely a lot for a new player.

Just pick up skinning + mining or herbalism while you level. Sell stuff you gather.

Thus, when you get to level 80, you will have quite a decent pile of gold.

Then you can start some AH manipulations, if you want. That takes a bit of practice, you can lose some money initially, etc., but its really the fastest way to make gold in game.

Just enjoy your ride :)

P.S. Endgame, leveling your n-th alt, can really get boring eventually, because the game truly is all in all very grind based (grind is not just killing only mobs, because most of quests really are quite similar, reputation grinds, doing same daily quests over and over, even reposting your auctions).

P.S.S. Raiding can be fun, but only if you get full group of people, who have a clue, which, unfortunately is very hard. It takes 1 retard out of 25 to have a 6 hours long wipe-fest. That can be quite frustrating.

P.S.S.S. I am not an active player currently, I just got bored of nearly everything in game after leveling mage and shaman to 80, and bunch of alts in level range from 20 to 71.

I've been playing WoW since it first came out, and just recently got my first toon to lvl 80 myself. This is due to the fact that I play in moderation, and only when there is absolutely nothing else to do, or I'm in a hack and slash mood.

It's a fun game that fills the times when you just don't feel like doing anything else. And not everyone gets addicted to it, nor is everyone who plays a geek or nerd who never gets out of the house.

Stop asap.. and when I say stop asap, I mean now! The game will overtake you like its done millions. The South Park rendition wasn't even close, its worse than that! Friendly players are there, but they're usually casual players. If you want to be cutting edge you've got to be hardcore.

The game has ingenious design from history and depth to game play and beyond. It panders to population OCD, however, but there are always updates, additions and the good players always stays current on all points. Its a frickin job with plenty of overtime if you allow yourself to sink in too far.

Its serious addiction, I kid you not! I was up in the top 25% of players worldwide in pvp/pve content, achievements etc. with over 600 days played.. I know what I'm talking about.

Don't do it!
