Problem with pathological liar

Yep. Since you have to keep records of all of it anyhow, and if you have to protect yourself from unfounded allegations, it might help if every time he did something you could think, "This will really make that book interesting!"

I have an idea about making a website about my husband's voice-mail messages. He gets the most insane messages from people he has lied-to.

its in the air........its everywhere.......some lie to spare feelings ....some just lie cause they have no feelings of thier own

Its sad really.
Compulsive liars usually have serious emotional problems and/or personality disorders.
Although they might admit they have a problem, only they can help themselves, and that is the hard part them getting help and realizing they need it.

omg...I have had people call me because he gave them my number for his contact number, wanting to know where he is because he just scammed them out of money by pretending to own a trailer in a mobile home park and renting it out to them!!!

I believe they have no feelings of their own...

He even had me convinced that my family was the cause of his problems...he was on probation from FL when I met him(but I didnt know it at the time) and we got into a fight and the cops were called and he went to jail, and Fl extridited him back, and he thus convinced me my family was the cause, so I cut all ties for seven years (until I realised they had nothing to do with it), but the sad thing is that my father passed away during that time and I never knew it...that is one of the reasons why I now hate him so much...do not let this person do to you what has happened to me...

That was a good article. I'm going-with the source being "organic" as-in some kind-of brain anomaly.
It may be treatable, but if it isn't treated, like I said there is bad deterioration, and escalation to other problems like violence.

I'm sure he liked telling you and himself that someone else was the cause of his problems! That's why I am sure of the fact that he will try to convince your child that you "kept him from her."
At least when she realizes it she will know that you protected her as best as you could.

My husband tried to play both ends with my family cause he knew he couldn't isolate me from them.
He would blame them for his problems, the tell them that I caused his problems!

that's what mine did with his side of the family...always keeping us mad at each other so we didn't communicate and find out the truth...

They really do try to keep people from communicating.
This story about me being hit by a car came from someone who was 3000 miles away, so he probably thought I'd never find-out.
He really lost it when he found-out that two of his friends talked to each-other.

Oh crap ....Never trust white trash...I'm sure in his mind its a lovely trailor park.......

I sure hope so...she already has caught him in a couple of lies and hopefully she will realize it on her own...I am not badmouthing him to her, I figure he will do that on his own...

When he found-out that my family caught-on to him, he insisted that they had "done something" to him.
I (wasted my time), waiting for him to get-it that it was his problem.
He finally admitted it, but who knows if he was just saying that because it was what I wanted to hear?

omg...those people were so pissed when I told them that he didn't own any trailer...they had given him several hundred dollars and were trying to move in, and had been waiting for him to show up with the keys...I told them to get in line behind everyone else he had conned...

Yes children do understand, but it is hard because they want to believe and also they are afraid to confront the liar.

Everything we are - IS the brain. The body is the manifestation of what that brain is doing. We know the parameters of "normal", and so, we can detect problems. How far we allow problems to affect OUR lives depends on the individual. I loved a woman who was bi-polar. Inwardly she was a good person; I could "see" it. However, she refused to take her meds, she drank (ahh yes, feed a depression with depressives) and it was NOT going to work. I had to go. It wasn't going to work.

I get calls from his debt collectors all day long!
I finally decided to start telling them that the person they are calling-about is three years old. (yes, I get it-I told a whopper).
I was torn between giving his number to scum and helping them, or getting those calls.

As I said, How far we allow problems to affect OUR lives depends on the individual.

Bi-polar is one thing that they have made progress on.
The difference between a personality disorder & mental illness is that mental illness seems to be helped by the right meds.
The trouble is figuring-out what it is.
My husband had tried every drug he could get his hands-on. But most have not been prescribed for him.

I just got a letter about a week ago from the courts (yes he still uses my address) that said he had five days to pay the charges he accrued for being in jail, or they were going to issue an arrest warrant...I filed it away with the rest of the letters and hope he goes to jail...I'll call and see if the warrant has been issued, then tell them who his PO officer is and where he has to report...

Oh well, that's for sure! I'm gonna go wash him out of my hair. Even thinking about him makes me feel like taking a shower.

Then watch for the next problem - he whines (lies) and you fall for it.

I made that mistake...be strong!!!

This really helps women stop being a victim to mysogynists, liars and borderline personality males.

If my daughter ever gets hell bent on meeting her father (though I doubt he will agree....or only will to alienate her from me)...I would insist she wait until over 16 and to make her read that....so she doesnt fall victim to him.

Sometimes I feel that these guys should have something tattoed on their foreheads so women are warned.....other times I wish a Star Chamber existed.....to OFF them so they wont be a danger to anyones heart anymore.

I really do hope he passes away before she gets old enough....it would be nice to tell her just about the few redeeming qualities instead of needing to protect her from the bad.

I think the moment of realisation that he had no conscience was when he saw a blind man in a wheelchair...his dogs leash got loose from his hand and a lorry ran over the dog. The man was beside himself with grief. Ex stood by and cracked up laughing, let someone else scrape the remains off the tarmac....and laughed again as he told me about it later. He couldnt even understand that I couldnt see a funny side to the story. If it was a lie...I couldnt believe that anyone would say something like that.
