Sen. Harry Reid says: We don't need no stinkin Judges...

In two separate interviews, one with Matt Lauer and one on MSNBC, Harry Reid said he thought it was time to get away from appointing Judges to the Supreme Court and get someone with "real life experience" (whatever that is) like a Govenor or a Senator.

Is he nuts? Or maybe he has forgotten how people reacted when Bush tried to appoint that woman staffer to the Supreme Court.

Most Senators and Govenors, even if they used to be lawyers, have not tried a case in decades - if they ever tried one at all. Also, there is a world of difference in being a trial lawyer and actually hearing and giving verdicts on cases.

We need Obama to nominate someone who has a record of verdicts and legal writings so we can see what kind of Justice that person would be. Not someone who is politically correct. Not someone who is a political hack. And certainly not someone who owes lobbyists for their campaign funds.

Maybe he wants the job himself.

However, we can hope that Obama does not listen to him. The Supreme Court is one of the few institutions that most people still respect.
