I do it in the titles of the posts I make, because it is aesthetically pleasing compared to some of the butchered crap that I see that pass for titles.

I also use it in order to emphasize quotes and quotations.

But, that is my own rule. I don't know if there is a linguistic or diction justification for the usage.
