As a life-time Christian, I received an awakening at the age of 35. This awakening did not cause me to not believe in Jesus, but it allowed me to look differently at all the things I believed in regarding "religion". I learned that some of the Eastern philosophies actually made more sense to me, and then I realized that Jesus spoke more along the lines of these philosophies than what the Fundamentalist Christians touted. For instance, the Fundies think we can only get to Heaven through Jesus. They tend to think it is through this MAN jesus, and believeing in Him rather than developing your own Christ Consciousness.

Jesus said to look within. He also said "Ye are gods; these and more shall ye do." He was instructing us to evolve in consciousness and realize that we are One with God. But the fundies actually think that when people follow Jesus' advice that they are being blasphemous and sacreligious. Talk about a mixed message coming from the supposed Christians!

Jesus didn't advocate going through another PERSON to get to God, but advocated to gain wisdom by contacting the Christ Consciousness, also known as our Higher Consciousness, imo.

The Bible, though, once one has achieved a greater insight into his own Being, can be read with new eyes. It's like there are layers to an onion, and as Man gains access to his own higher awareness, he can read the Bible and get a new perspective. I think the Bible represents Man (everybody as an individual AND collectively) in all the different phases and stages of his own life. Each character is revealing the evolutionary process, individually and collectively. In this respect, the Bible is the HGreates Book of Psychology ever written.

I am working on just standing in my own circle and being the change I want to see in the world. It's a full time job man!

Because I believe in eternal life for everyone...I no longer feel it necessary to worry about another's spiritual path choices (or lack thereof)
In time...everyone comes to 'the party' so to speak.

I know of others with your similar perspective. That is an interesting thing to ponder: that fundamentalists aren't into that sort of mindset. That casts a poor shadow over Christianity that can't be ignored. This is why many people believe that Jesus was another incarnation of others like him: Buddha, Lao Tzu, Gandhi, Krishnamurti... so on. It is for that reason that I don't give the credit to the Christian bible.

It would seem apparent to me that the Christian bible has been effective in holding people back then.

I agree with you. There are those who preach from the mountaintops with seemingly much authority, and those who reject and demean others, all in an effort to raise their own standing in Life. I find very few people who are truly interested in other people's "salvation". They usually are only wanting to save themselves and enjoy only those who agree with them and are involved in putting others down. It seems so immature and frankly, very archaic. With these people, little effort goes into teaching people how to process their own spirituality.

It's a power trip and a control issue, methinks. :-(

I ask myself these questions:
Does what "I" believe harm another individual?
Does what "I" believe harm God?
Does what "I" believe exclude my fellow man or neighbor?
Does what "I" believe allow for diversity of thought and feeling and still give honor to God and God's children?

I do not feel that by tearing others down it makes me better. Nor do I believe that by questioning my own beliefs makes me weak and "unsaved", but allows me to gain understanding and wisdom. I believe that by acknowledging and honoring other people's beliefs, even if they disagree with mine, that I have in fact opened the door for higher understanding for all involved.

In such cases, what is presumed by the deluded party to be a "show of affection" is truly an inflated view of oneself and their ego that causes communications to become more and more centered upon the deluded parties distorted self-love which they then project as "concern" for others in order to justify to themselves and gain admiration and affirmation of others in order to feed their inflated ego and to use this so called "concern" as a cloak (albeit a transparent one) for said superior behavior.

A christian can study and experience other spiritual paths.

it seems some people fail to realize many Christians HAVE explored other avenues and found them to be dead ends. we are only alive in Christ.

when I read the Bible I see clearly that our creator came to earth as a man, died for our sins; and rose from the grave. we only have to believe to live forever with Him.


He clearly indicated He is God. He also clearly indicated He is THE way the truth and the life. and He clearly said the only way was through Him. He also said this would divide us.

Jesus said He is the door -- anyone who tries to come in a different way is a thief and a robber. I don't see what's so difficult to understand. once we learn this truth and accept His free gift of salvation we are in the truth and we have liberty

people on other paths are in bondage -- the Bible says blinded by the god of this world. a clear warning.

The new age is nothing new - - it's just old fashioned occultism rebranded for a new generation. The fact that they are communing with actual supernatural entities only reinforces their flawed belief that Christ was merely a consciousness, not the Son of God. They don't realize or even consider that these "spirit guides" are intentionally filling their heads with lies, so as to lead them astray from the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ.
