If the *only* reason you left was because of your gut feeling, your gut was hopelessly wrong. Because, even in the wake of 9-11, even in the wake of other natural disasters, the East Coast is still there. The West Coast is still there. Mount Ranier is still there. You've wasted an enormous amount of energy on fantasy.

The fact that you don't have the uneasy feeling anymore, and the fact that life is treating you pretty fairly now, is irrelevant.

Your haunting feeling had no basis in reality. There is no data supporting your decision. I am glad you are content, but your decisions were irrational.

As is your continued following of institutes like Farsight or Psicop, or your continued following of people like Clif and Nancy Lieder.

If you're looking for doom, you are looking in the wrong place. The only two scenarios that could seriously affect world population are epidemics and asteroid impact.

The 2004 quake in Sumatra was massive. The tsunami claimed a lot of lives and property. But when you look at it rationally, a million people died, in countries that have hundreds of millions of inhabitants. The world was shocked and saddened, lots of lives were destroyed, but it didn't affect the world population that much. More people die every year from starvation and curable disease. It didn't even put much of a dent in the population of Indonesia or Thailand.

I've lived on the coast. I've been affected by landslides, floods and hurricanes, but I can count those times on my fingers, versus thousands of good days. I've lived in Mexico City, been through a huge earthquake there, lost my house and all of my "supplies" but again, that quake killed perhaps 100,000 people, but to put it into context, there were 18 million people living there. It was horrible, but people picked up the pieces and life returned to some normalcy within a couple of weeks. I heard Mt. St. Helens when it blew in 1980. I can see Mt. Baker as I write this. But I am not going to run away to avoid something that might never happen in my lifetime, and if it does, I'll deal with it, like I deal with whatever life throws at me. If we all moved away from the coast, who would work the ports that receive the goods that you and I buy every day?

I had no "imminent" feeling of danger while I lived on the East Coast, or when visiting Seattle. The feeling was connected to a sense of danger if I put down ROOTS and settled in either area for the LONG TERM.

I'm here in Northern Illinois for the LONG TERM - come "hell or high water" as they say. Of course here, I have more reason to worry about "hell" than "high water".

Clif is obviously not worried about the doom he predicts, but he's willing to scam money off others and sell them scary doom and survival gear to keep his boat in the water. The fact that Clif lives in a "danger zone" while encouraging others to flee should be a clue for you, Melfytroll, about his true intentions. After all, just a few months ago he admitted he makes this shit up.

Well, today was the summer solstice...although it was cloudy and rainy at Stonehenge. No doubt Nancy will claim the government or the "Zetas" made it that way so no one would be able to see that the the sun didn't line up with the marker and, therefore, notice that the Earth is wobbling. After all, those pesky "Zetas" are just as guilty as the government at covering any evidence of "Planet X."
