Apparently, even when I'm not posting much, I'm on the list. Quoting: 74444 So, if I vanish completely, it's been interesting and amusing. You have mail. Thank you! And two other mails. . Wow. How do you find them all and what, exactly, constitutes one? I've never been able to figure that out considering the wild west attitude this site is famous for. Very nice of you, Hydra. *** applause *** |

Quoting: 74444 Looking for predictions! I bet that they will claim that Regulus, just a little over 1° from the sun, is Nibiru. . Yes, I can definitely see that as a possibility. I'm getting a new 500mm focal length Schmidt-Cassegrain lens today for my SLR which will ride piggyback on the LX200 during the eclipse. That should put Regulus right at the edge of the field of view if I'm centered on the sun, according to SkySafari Pro. It will actually fit a bit better if I'm alt-az aligned than equatorially aligned (likely to be the case to provide additional stability in case of wind). I'll be sure to make sure it's in the field of view at totality, moving the telescope slightly if necessary. |

Quoting: 74444 Assuming it doesn't explode, will see you afterward! I've got a few sites booked as possibilities, but looking at the weather the last few days it seems like the current pattern puts Wyoming as more favorable than my other sites. I won't be able to make it to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, but I'll probably find myself somewhere in Wyoming. Here's hoping we have good weather! |

The sight wasn't what I expected at all, and the temperature drop was *insane.* As totality ended, seeing the horizon light up like a theater was marvelous. And, best of all, we're all still here. 74444 (still on the road home) |
