Quoting: Jym 707857nope i havent found anything that helps me i also get alot of cramps in my left calf and the ring finger on my left hand kind of shakes from side to side when i straighten my hand out. none of my other fingers seem to move at all Cramps = need for more hydration and lack of potassium. Stretch before bed as it also helps to calm other nerves and ready you for rest. I will never understand people (especially athletic ones) who complain of cramps that can end in sore muscles for days, yet they wont properly stretch...its an easy fix for most. I've never heard about muscle spasms having to do with dehydration, but may be. Dehydration also causes headaches...most people take a "headache reliever" which can further dehydrate you when really some hydration and electrolytes should fix you up. I used to get the WORST charlie-horse cramps, especially after soccer games, yowsa! I feel for you. |

The primary electrical positive/negative relationship within the muscle is controlled by these two. Also, just take a multivitamin that has magnesseum. If you do this, the spasm should go away. |

mercury2 User ID: 290812 ![]() 06/21/2009 01:30 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | magnesium Quoting: Anonymous Coward 707807Yes, magnesium, which isn't provided by your diet, you need to supplement. You get plenty of calcium from your food, even ordinary vegetables like potatoes have a lot of calcium. But magnesium is depleted from the food supply through processing, also the soils are deficient. Don't take magnesium oxide, that's not a good form to take, I read that magnesium taurinate or taurate was the best, and I took that til the place I got it from was out of stock, then I tried magnesium glycinate, supposed to be the next best form, I like it, but you have to be careful with magnesium because it can cause diarrhea. If you do get the runs, you can stop them by taking some turmeric, 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp in water and drink that, you get used to the taste of it, it works great. |

mr...bojangles User ID: 706554 ![]() 06/21/2009 01:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | chemtrails deplete the body of magnesium.... everyone needs to take magnesium nowadays.... Beyond one's own mind there is no dazzling light to come shining in from outside to wake one up. If one recognizes one's own intrinsic State as pure from the beginning and only temporarily obscured by impurities, and if one maintains the presence of this recognition without becoming distracted, then all the impurities dissolve. This is the essence of the Path-namkhai norbu. Why is there a legend about the descent of Christ into hell? The Teacher addressed the lower strata of the astral world, saying: Why, by cherishing earthly thoughts, bind oneself eternally to Earth? And many revolted in spirit and rose higher. Thread: I shot video of the earth from my spacecraft, enjoy! |

ohio_lpn User ID: 608327 ![]() 06/21/2009 09:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Muscle spasms when relaxed could be 1 of 2 things or actually both: BFS (benign fascilation syndrome) or Myoclonus. BFS is just that it's a benign twitch that occurs anywhere in the body..most commonly in the toes, calf muscle, thigh, upper back, lip, eyebrow, fingers, and tongue. The cause for this could be a lot of things...dehydration, B vitamin difficiency, stress (most common), and just muscle fatigue. Myoclonus is something a bit different...Ever had a hiccup or before you fall asleep you leg or arm jerks? This is referred to as a myoclonic jerk/spasm, it's a reaction you muscles perform when your body is tired or resting. Myoclonus is a symptom of an underlying cause...I dont' want to freak you out but certain neurological disorders can cause this...I doubt that's what you have so don't worry. Drink plenty of liquids, take your vitamins with extra B vits. try to stress less and you'll be fine. I have BFS mine started in my fingers and now I pretty much get it everywhere, mine is due to stress and electolyte imbalance...it comes and goes some days are better than others...any other questions just ask I would be glad to help! |

ohio_lpn User ID: 608327 ![]() 06/21/2009 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have that, where I get one big full body jolt.. Im usually just falling asleep and thinking about some type of physical activity.. My thought cross into action sometimes LOL Quoting: Anonymous Coward 708528That's completely normal if you were ever wondering...here's what it means. When you are starting to fall asleep you brain sometimes thinks your body is dying and this jerk is a reaction from your body to preserve muscle tissue. It usually happens when you are extremely extremely exhausted, but can happen other times...people like my sister don't get this when they nap in the afternoon but get it when she is going to sleep for the night. COMPLETELY NORMAL THOUGH!!! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 708515 ![]() 06/21/2009 09:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | More than 1 electrolyte/mineral deficiency can cause that. for example, if you're dehydrated, salt and potassium depletion can cause that. Being low in magnesium and other trace minerals can also cause that. Take electrolytes when you get dehydrated and make sure you have enough minerals in your diet. If you do it when you're galling asleep, that's another issue. Can't help you there, even tho it happens to me sometimes. |
