The police have nothing to gain from actually stopping crime, or putting criminals out of business.

Because if they did that, there would be no need for cops, and they'd be on the unemployment line like everyone else.

So, they pretend to fight crime.

While picking up a few bucks here and there for helping well connected criminals.

It's a job security thing.
