A five year old here in NC was recently found dead after vomiting the night before. I can't help but wonder now if there is more to her death? The parents were told it was Sudden Infant Syndrome.

Myocarditis and Pericarditis are cardiac complications of the flu. May be what is happening in these cases.

How do they know it was H1N1? Canada stopped testing to see if flu cases are regular flu or swine flu.

If you want to convince me, then give me a reputable source citing the number of children dying from, or even developing, myocarditis following flu. And since myocarditis often presents as flu, then I request a data report that controlled for that variable.

I'm interested in the time frame from fever onset to death as well, which is another telling variable.

Your example makes no sense. Typhoid fever is a disease caused by a specific bacteria. Myocarditis is a condition.

Myocarditis, like pneumonia and encephalitis can be caused by many different things. Influenza can cause all of these conditions. Duh. Rare, yes, in the normal seasonal flu. Who the heck knows what this novel influenza will cause? Already we are seeing oddities - like the ages of the victims, and my God - it's June!

The Bird flu (h5n1) in particular, caused this in some victims, which is why the sudden deaths reminded me of that possibility. It is just speculation, as I have seen very little data released as to the specific causes of these sudden deaths. People were wondering why hearts might be affected. Myocarditis is possibly why.
