CAN you sue your Congressperson if they did not READ THE BILL?
And still voted YES for it.... even if the bill had not yet been fully written because they were adding hundreds of pages to it on the QT and not allowing you to read it?

I doubt it, but I'm as pissed as can be...

The fact that they pushed this through as fast as they did is rigoddamdiculous...

The Earth would have survived another day or two if they took THE TIME TO READ THE BILL!!!!

I'm sure there is a job description and duties of a representative or senator posted somewhere. See if he violated that trust.

I would say maybe.

Re: CAN you sue your Congressperson if they did not READ THE BILL?
If we do not contact our politicians, then it is our fault. We need to get vocal and let them know we are fed up and not going to take it any more. It is too late once this goes into effect. They know they can do anything that they want....there is no consequences for them. It is not fair that one party can do this shoveling down the throats of others their policies. There has got to be a better way. Throw all of them out, except for the very few that seem to stand up for the people.

No, you should run for their job. If you can't do that, campaign for the opposition (only costs time). At the very least, vote them out of office.

The constitution as great as it is, does not really cover ignorance from top to bottom in the House, Senate, Judiciary and Executive branches.

Re: CAN you sue your Congressperson if they did not READ THE BILL?
I wish. I am so tired of hearing that these bills had pages and pages added in the middle of the night. That no one will be reading the changes much less understanding the bill before voting.

This used to be hidden in the back rooms. Now it's like they could care less what we think. I am starting to think the people running this country have lost their minds.

Re: CAN you sue your Congressperson if they did not READ THE BILL?
There should be a quiz for all of them voting to see if they comprehend what they were supposed to read, before they are allowed to vote.
I saw a video once where one rep will just reach across to another table and hit a voting button for another rep. It is really a joke and un-controlled.

All they have to say is they voted their conscious. You can't prove otherwise. It's sad but true.

Re: CAN you sue your Congressperson if they did not READ THE BILL?
I had this idea last night, posted it. It works like this.
A Congressperson writes a new bill. It will be hundreds of pages thick, and given to them the night before a vote.
Some will scan it, most will leave it in their briefcases.

Oh yes, make sure that fake lobbyists deliver the usual pay off for the vote. See [link to www.maplight.org] if you want the proof of that. You just think you are angry until you ee this.

Imediately before the vote, insert at least a hundred more pages, some can be blank - doesn't matter - they don't read the bills anyway.

Within these pages it will say something like this. Any member of the Conress or Senate who votes Yea or Nay will immediately be removed from office, and taken into custody on the charge of treason, kickbacks, bribery, abuse of power, and other high crimes and misdeanors against the People of the United States, et al.

The very best, Kucinich, Kaptor, Paul, Sanders, a few others could sponsor the bill in fact.

All of the others who have been signing our country and our rights away, and stealing from us all, selling their votes, those who don't have to read the bill. You know, they will vote for the biggest bribe.
They will all vote Yea or Nay. Caught, live on C-Span.

As officers holding a position in office, and failure to see to the due diligence as is in deed needed.... What is needed for said occupation of said office....

A Needed Thing, a lawful claim and a legal challenge, crazy but true it is truth, the two laws I just mentioned and as read by you are in play.

That being said, As officers holding a position in office, and failure to see to the due diligence as is in deed needed. What is needed for said occupation of said office.... needed, a lawful claim and a legal challenge, crazy but true it is truth, the two laws I just mentioned and as read by you are in play. That is not to mention the socio/political ramifications of said laws, there good points and it's calamities. This does exclude and is not to forego the mention of the socio/political ramifications of said laws, there is good points about it, and it's calamities. Where is the deed that they used to pass such a bill, resolution, act, privy council. The social contract needs to be in forced, this is to be sure, and please people make no mistakes about about it, it can and shall be resolved in favour of the people. This post it but one drop in the proverbial bucket, towards, and in step with the resolutions.

Re: CAN you sue your Congressperson if they did not READ THE BILL?
There are procedures for recalling them while in office. Maybe people need to start forming groups and doing that? At least if we all did it in every state, all at once, they'd have to stop passing laws for awhile even if we weren't successful. It might slow them down?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 702604

They can be kicked out by the other members, but not recalled or sued. The only way the public can have a member removed is to put pressure on the Senate or House to remove a particular member. But in this case, since the majority of the Congress voted on the bill and passed it, they would all have to vote to remove each other; and I don't see that happening any time soon :4:

The American public could show some outrage and get some things done, but that would never happen with the apathetic and ignorant American public.

Americans are more interested in American Idol than what is happening in Washington. Congress did the same thing with the Patriot Act and almost nobody noticed or cared.
