I think its from the mid or early 90s. there is a guy who stays in his room constantly trying to win a radio contest. when he finally gets to call in to the show someone walks into his room and trips on the cord disconnecting the phone? any help would be appreciated.

I think the guy stays alone in the room thru the hole movie staring at a light bulb till he goes blind then when the song finally comes on he calls in and someone trips over the cord and pulls the plug>?
