Excavations of many Druid mounds unearthed carbon, zinc and iron, which are the constituents of a battery. This was added to the Ley line mythos and thought to be the power source of the Ley Lines. Proponents reasoned that at one time the lines may have been more powerful than their weak remnants of today. Some have written that Druid wizards used Ley lines to levitate and fly from one mound or city to another. [link to www.bbc.co.uk]

The Stone Age monuments at Avebury in Wiltshire are world-famous, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Two of the most dramatic are the enormous burial chamber known as the West Kennet Long Barrow, and Silbury Hill, the largest man-made mound in Europe. Less well known is Silbury's "sister" mound at Marlborough a few miles due east, but this is nothing less than the legendary burial place of Merlin.
