Kindness isn't difficult to maintain, no matter what ails befall you. How determined are you to be kind? But it can fade. People change. Age, medical issues, mental illnesses CAN happen. But I think you marry the person as they are when you marry them. You cannot go on what ifs. Your innate nature isn't really a choice. Whether you become a grumpy old b**tard or not, is.
