A 2000 report by the US Surgeon General emphasizes that smoking cessation is one of the most cost-effective of all health care treatments. The data show that smoking essation is considerably more costeffective than most health care interventions. This means that, in time, introducing smoking cessation into health care systems will release resources for other needs.
