There was a time I would have laughed at this guy but not anymore.

Check out this quote.

"When I lived with money, I was always lacking," he writes. "Money represents lack. Money represents things in the past (debt) and things in the future (credit), but money never represents what is present."

He scrounges off of the world he left. If he was true to his cause he would use no technology, and make everything he uses from what nature provides.

I happen to like technology. I just wish we were developing things and using them in a way was more in harmony with and protective of nature.

Re: WAAAAAAAAY off the grid this guy is.
he`s right about money though....

money makes people lose focus....
Beyond one's own mind there is no dazzling light to come shining in from outside to wake one up. If one recognizes one's own intrinsic State as pure from the beginning and only temporarily obscured by impurities, and if one maintains the presence of this recognition without becoming distracted, then all the impurities dissolve. This is the essence of the Path-namkhai norbu.

Why is there a legend about the descent of Christ into hell? The Teacher addressed the lower strata of the astral world, saying: Why, by cherishing earthly thoughts, bind oneself eternally to Earth? And many revolted in spirit and rose higher.

It doesn't look very comfortable - it looks cold and lonely. I would prefer to live a basic existence in the wild in a log cabin..... at least you can farm some vegetables.

He probably would if he could. He's dispossessed now of much that is needed for that life because everybody in mainstream society thinks they own the planet (or a part of it).

For the past 15 years or so I've been living my life in that direction. I'm not quite there yet but it doesn't really matter, for we will all soon be there.

Re: WAAAAAAAAY off the grid this guy is.
Quoting from the Article:

"Suelo's been here for three years, and it smells like it."

How very attractive - Not! lol

And omg no wonder, he's so fucked up!

"I think of how John the Baptist survived on honey and locusts in the desert. Suelo, who keeps a copy of the Bible for bedtime reading, is satisfied with a few grasshoppers fried in his skillet.

HE WASN'T ALWAYS THIS WAY. SUELO graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in anthropology, he thought about becoming a doctor, he held jobs, he had cash and a bank account."

Appears to me to be a very good example of how the buybull fucks someone up.

Looks like he was on the right track in the first place - he should use his buybull for TP, and go back to studying anthropology and making money.

And nothing here really truly qualifies as living "off-grid", when using that term I tend to think of having electricity of my own source.

If this is the case, then of course there are many homeless people living "off-grid" then.

Now IF somebody can show me somebody doing something similar, and yet living a much better quality of life, WITH their own power source(s) of electricity, - then now we're talking.

Thanks anyway, but no-thanks OP

To whom would he need to be attractive? To himself? The guy lives alone! So, leave him alone!

 Quoting: Mell Fungshon

he fries up some bugs that he caught, has mice running over him when he sleeps and has kissing bugs suck his blood from under his nails, and he goes to the local library to use the internet.

He has some points about money, and seems to scavenge everything else.
