Three children shot dead by their siblings in suspected gun accidents across US
I will hazard a guess at saying bye bye to your beloved guns:

In the latest incident on Friday evening, a nine-year-old boy was shot in the head while at home near Beaumont, Texas.

Three children were at home alone while their father was at work when the shooting occurred. The father is a single parent and raising the children - whose ages have not been disclsoed by police - with the help of relatives. A neighbour called police after a child came running to her describing the incident.

lsewhere in the US, two other young children have been shot by their siblings in the space of 48 hours.

In Las Vegas, a two-year-old girl was in a critical condition after being shot by her four-year-old brother at their home, police said.

In South Carolina, a four-year-old boy was shot in the stomach by his three-year-old brother after the younger boy found a gun. The injured boy was expected to make a full recovery, police said.

The incident in Las Vegas happened on Thursday night after the girl's brother found a loaded 9mm handgun inside their home. It went off while he was holding it, hitting his sister in her torso. According to the police, the father was home at the time and the gun appears to have been improperly secured.

The shooting involving the two brothers happened in Gray Court, South Carolina, also on Thursday night. They and their father were staying at the home of a family friend.

Again....most guns (really most guns) are used accidently or against people that the owners already know. So much for the "self-defense" theory... there is no reason (except stupidity) for the average person to own a gun.

Little kids shouldn't be around guns. It's stupid. I have a gun and it has a trigger lock.

For each one of them there were probably 10 more that died that day in suspected car accidents. Time to ban the cars.

>>>In the US, the right to bear arms is enshrined in the Second Amendment of the Constitution. The pro gun lobby wields enormous power and more than 200 million firearms, including military grade machine guns, are in private hands.<<<

Yeah, and that's three kids that shouldn't have them out of that 200 million. They were tragic accidents.

Great, Britain, say all that while you hand your country over to idiots that like strapping BOMBS to their kids and blowing their daughter's brains out for the slightest "infraction" (lying bullshit and plain evil).

I disagree. You don't hear about self defense cases much because the media won't publish them.

As for the average person not needing a gun, there is a little thing called the constitution.

So, I feel there is no reason for you to voice your opinion and Gubbermint thugs should come to your house, arrest and jail you for voicing it.

Re: Three children shot dead by their siblings in suspected gun accidents across US
The REAL problem here is the lack of GUN SAFETY by the gun owner. One $10 trigger lock could have stopped these from occurring. Also PROPERLY storing them could have prevented this. So should we all turn in our keys and cars since we've seen so many youngsters go joy riding of late. I have seen several news stories of late involving young kids (like 5-6 yrs old) taking keys and their parents or other adult's vehicles.

I strongly feel that if a gun is going to be a part of the household it's important that the parents teach gun safety and follow proper storage procedures (keeping the gun out of reach of kids, storing the gun UNLOADED and having the ammo in another place but easily accessible by the ADULTS) and it's the PARENTS/ADULTS responsibility to keep their guns and children safe.

Toddler killed by flatscreen television
A toddler was killed when a flatscreen television came off the wall and crushed him at his home in Basildon, Essex.

Published: 2:17PM BST 07 Jul 2009

The two year old, who has not been named, was at home with his father when the television fell on top of him, knocking him unconscious.

An off-duty nurse is believed to have tried to resuscitate the little boy before paramedics arrived on the scene. The toddler was rushed to Basildon Hospital but he died of a cardiac arrest.

Joy Hale, a spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an address following reports that a television had injured a boy. The impact caused him head injuries and he went into cardiac arrest.

"The boy was unconscious when we got there and he was given adrenaline and other treatment.

"A rapid response unit was sent and also an ambulance but sadly the little boy went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at Basildon Hospital.

"This was a really difficult job for those involved. They did what they could to help the boy both at the scene and on route to the hospital but sadly he died. Our thoughts are with his family."

Neighbours described how the father was sobbing as he lay his son on the grass outside his home and called for help.

Police were called to the home at 3pm on Saturday and are treating the incident as a "tragic accident."

Bill Stocks, a police spokesman, said: "We were contacted by the ambulance service with reports of the death of a two-year-old boy. He was injured at an address in Basildon at around 2pm.

"He was taken by ambulance to Basildon Hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead. Officers carried out inquiries including an examination of the address and are, at this stage, treating the death as a tragic accident.

"A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course and a file submitted to the coroner."

Time to ban tractors, flat screens, trampolines, Mercedes Benzes, knives and fairground rides. According to the article.
