Quoting: Anonymous Coward 728339I haven't really decided yet. If the tests indicate it's safe and effective then I probably will. Why? Mostly because I work in the social sciences so I generally hold independent peer reviewed studies in pretty high regard. So when the study is conducted by one phamaceutical company and is peer reviewed by another pharmaceutical company then that makes it safe? Follow the money trail. Who's to gain? Look at the investors. Who has the most to gain. |

Quoting: Disinfo AgentNo, pharma companies do often fund resarch but peer review before publication is generally done by respected, unaffiliated scientists in the field. Anyway, this study is being conducted in multiple university-affiliated sites across the country and funded by the US government via the NIH so it's a moot point. I have read about said "respected, unaffiliated scientists" working the revolving door between universities and private companies. There is a similar revolving door in the weapons industry and government. |

If you promise someone $10,000 to try a vaccine then that's basically a coercive amount of money - for people out of a job it's an offer they can't refuse. A smallish reward like $50-$100 is large enough to compensate people for their help but small enough to not get people who are desperate for money. |

Quoting: Pondlady02 RN 719487its only for the people (sheeople) i mean :) so go ahead and fuck up your children , wife and realtives and friends . do not take that shittttttt!!!!!! I'm keeping an open mind and waiting for the results of the clincal trials. heheh ya reckon Big Pharma will disclose any negative news about their products? I will merely have to check the patients that come into our ER. They will know if they have taken the vaccine or not. WE can also do a body count in our morgue of those who die and people will indeed die and see how many of the dead did or did not get innoculated. This is a scary virus that came out of Mexico City. Also, keep in mind that people that have underlying medical conditions whether they get the vacine or not are much more vunerable. The elderly, whose immune systems don't function as well as before, the very young who have not had time to develop immunities and drinkers will be the hardest hit. The pharmacokinetics (how a drug is absorbed, distributed, metabolized and excreted)depends on the persons body. Most drugs are metabolized in the LIVER and excreted by the KIDNEYS. Alcohol (ETOH) is incredibly hard on these organs even when used in small amounts. Ever wondered why you drink ONE beer and pee 4?????? ETOH is PURE sugar. They body tries to mount a rapi defense by getting rid of the excess sugar quickly. Also, the thirst that comes from drinking alcohol is the body's way of trying to dilute this pure sugar. Alcohol drinking and diabetes have the same effect on the body. Dilute and excrete to bring back healthy balance in the body. It's quite fascinating! They say that older people are more immune to swine flu than younger people, that it is not hitting older people hard at this point. They are thought to have immunity from earlier flu outbreaks. |

Some people will close their mind automatically without looking at ALL THE FACTS. Mature folks use something called POST FORMAL THOUGHT. They get information from many different places, process it, formulate a respons and make an informed judgment. You are clearly a wise person who uses post formal thought. Those people who close their minds AUTOMATICALLY and will not even entertain the possiblity that they might have something to learn, will not get the vaccine. If it is proven to work, the ones who did not get it might get ill and maybe die. The upside is that their shots will be available to those who choose to get it. There will be a limited amount of vaccine. I will wait, check out the results of the clincial trials and then make an informed decision. |
