I'm european and have no dealings whatsoever with the pharmaceutical industry. Never visit a doc, never buy junk from a pharmacy (drugstore).
Yet through taxes my state makes me pay for the health miscare of others.
I do take care of my own health and my family's through buying the right food instead of living in "fear of the invisible" and lying down in submission to big pharma for my protection like pretty much everyone else does (except less 1% of the people, who act like me).

You americans have no idea how socialism is pervasive and changes mentalities.
Here in France healthcare is seen as some sort of a divine right, and taxes as some divine obligation. Nearly noone questions the "necessity" of ID cards, social security numbers and other slavery shackles.
Even the fact that the state can come at any time and take your child from you is seen as a necessary evil.
IT IS a slave mentality, a defeated cattle mentality.
The state is a monster that we all know owns us and our children. But few dare admitting it and fewer still protesting it.
And few question the "care" and "help" that the state claims to provide.

what you said is true but you are omitting from the equation the fact that you pay 50 to 75% taxes on your revenue, and wages are dead low because of the healthcare monster.
Nearly no one wants to hire people when they have to pay 2 wages when they do so : one for the employee and one for the state as "taxes".
the whole economy is empoverished to a ridiculous level because of the health care sham.
