State police say the body of Brendan Ryan of Westbrookville was found Tuesday by youths tubing on the Neversink River in the Sullivan County town of Deerpark, where the New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey borders meet 65 miles northwest of New York City.
Trooper say Ryan was reported missing after leaving a party in a wooded area off Route 209 around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Police say he apparently drowned and their investigation is continuing Wednesday.

ryan MEANS LITTLE KING
Ryan is a name from Irish Gaelic whose meaning and origin are derived from the old gaelic word "righ" (cognate of Latin "rex" and its derivatives such as French "roi") and the old Irish diminutive of "an" - which form the meaning of "little king." The modern Irish form of this name is O' Riain - a contraction of the older Irish form O'Mulriain (commonly anglicised as Mulryan) which is now virtually extinct.
The Ryan family motto is 'Malo Mori Quam Foedari', which, when translated, means 'I would rather Die than be Disgraced'. It is also the motto of the Harty family.[1]
