I am thinking of getting up to 100 acres in Southern Mexico to help some American friends scape their democratic, economic and political woes.

How much land would I lend them if per family so they are able to grow a garden, and what should I ask in return, if any?

I've grown a large and bountiful garden on 1/4 acre. Search up victory gardens, Americans used to be very resourceful with a can-do attitude, real Americans still are.

Depends on how many friends you have and whether they'll share with each other as a commuity.

I'd not worry about culture shock, what's happening here is the real culture shock.

I just hope to have it right to people to share and help one another if possible. How can I get it done? I think it´s an unsurmountable task.

My husband doesn't think anything bad is happening. ??!! When I try to talk with him he just argues with me, puts me down and says it is all "nonsense". I'm not a spring chicken and have health probs. He didn't listen to me about 3yrs ago that we needed to sell our home and use what would be left over to pay off our debts. NOW, we have nowhere to live and no money to move (while he blames me because I haven't been able to work) -- still in our home until THEY kick us out. :( :(

unless you are a citizen of mexico, you cannot buy land...

Why would you buy the land and put those people way down south, while you're still hanging out in Mexicali, 15 miles from the US?

Mexicali is a city of a million people, with it's own share of gangs, drugs and all those nafta factories.

Something doesn't sound right with this offer.

If you read, I already said I already have my hang out place for when TSHTF, but being 15 minutes from the border, I don´t think it makes it a safe place.

I think a lot of people will be leaving the US for the current conditions will worsen, and I think people from the South of Mexico will travel to the US looking for work. So I think the border will be filled with people passing by.

Yep. As you see above, my idea is to provide my friends with a safe place to grow a garden. I know the worst is yet to come. The real depression will start by October when the US government declares itself insolvent to meet its obligations. That´s when the bomb will explode.
