Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67938605 Even now I'm thinking about stepping into this thread... but really, why? Nothing I say is going to convince you otherwise. You're not going to accept any evidence unless I take a fruit fly, wave a magic wand, and it becomes a giraffe. Don't even try to compare people who believe the Earth is flat with people who believe the moon landing is a hoax and evolution is bullshit. I personally believe the same people behind the support of the moonlanding and evolution as fact are the same ones promoting the flat earth bullshit ,I'd bet my last dollar on it. A person who believes the Earth is flat has everything in common with someone who believes in evolution, they both ignore all of the scientific evidence. Always cool to see you here buddy. |

That's his whole argument to "debunk" evolution. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 If genetic mutations exist, then evolution is a fact, because a small percentage of those mutations will be beneficial and they will be passed on to future generations. An accumulation of new, beneficial genetic mutations over a very long period of time can lead to a new species. (This is a very basic premise of Evolutionary Theory). This article talks about beneficial mutations in humans: [link to bigthink.com] 1. Does Natural Selection exist? Yes. 2. Do beneficial mutations exist? Yes. How can you say evolution does not exist, when these two key components are what make up the evolutionary process? If you agree that both exist, then by default you have to admit that evolution is real because that's what evolution IS. Evolution is the process where Natural Selection weeds out less favorable genes, and the more favorable genes get passed on to future generations. Beneficial genetic mutations can add new, favorable genes to the gene pool. Why is this so difficult to understand? Give me one hundred examples of new positive mutations in any organism. I will be patiently waiting. The link I posted before already mentioned a couple: [link to bigthink.com] Our DNA is littered with hundreds of beneficial mutations, compared to our closest primate relative, the chimpanzee. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 Why did God create mosquitoes? (Their only purpose is to leech off the blood of mammals, like humans for instance). No, you missed their most important purpose, and that is to act as probably the most prolific disease vector on the planet. If it were not for mosquitoes there are many species which would overpower and destroy their habitat and the food chain would be disrupted. If you were to remove mosquitoes from environments where they are prevalent, the entire food chain could collapse. This has as similar answer as above. Things need to be in a rather perfect balance for a given ecological niche to remain virile. If you were to remove tapeworms from the mix it would upset the predator/prey balance because tapeworms tend to occur in meat eating carnivores. I believe specifically to limit human population since typhus is a disease that proliferates in crowded conditions and kills humans almost exclusively. Why did God create Ebola? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 Why did God create flesh-eating bacteria? Bacteria that eats flesh keeps dead things from piling up to out eyeballs. It is unlikely either ebola or the so called "superbugs" of flesh eating antibiotic bacteria would ever have manifested without human manipulation. When you expose an organism to a toxin like an antibiotic, a certain percentage THAT HAVE A NATURAL INBORN GENETIC RESISTANCE TO IT SURVIVE, and since only these survive the organism APPEARS to "mutat" into a antibiotic resistant strain. The resistant qualities were always there in these organisms, the antibiotics simply forced the organism to favor a certain part of its genome. Why did 99% of God's species go extinct? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 (Dinosaurs and Woolly Mammoths for instance) Why don't you drive a model T instead of a computer controlled fuel efficient modern automobile? The automobile is a good analogue or metaphor of sorts to accurately describe "evolution" for what it really is. NO ONE involved in the automobile industry or engineering at all would deny automobiles (and technology in general) have evolved, but the mechanism of that evolution was not the vehicles changing themselves. Why did God decide to create living organisms on a planet that is exposed to so many extinction level events? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 I have a theory personally that this is one of the most biggest pieces of evidence of intelligent design that there is.Look where we are right now, the moral relativists and atheists have taken over and are teaching our children to hate the creator and do things that are highly harmful to themselves , we now have the capability to easily end all life on this planet and left unopposed I'm sure that segment of humanity that is inclined towards evil and unbridled ego without morality or true intellect would eventually destroy creation. But they're not going to get the chance. This question also brings up one of the most compelling evidences of intelligent design, and that is the delicate self regulating balances that allow this planet to support life. if one thing of thousands gets to far out of whack the whole thing collapses, but somehow we go hundreds of millions of years between such collapses and they always seem to occur just about the time some group of species is becoming overly dominant and destroying the balance of nature.. Why did God create Whales with leg bones (vestigial parts) that serve no purpose? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 Why did cars have tail fins? Why do we have an appendix? Two simple questions, both are usually answered by the quotation that these additions are useless vestigial organs or embellishments, but in reality both of these things serve an actual, real function. With the tail fins the idea of course was to aerodynamically stabilize the vehicle, and there is no doubt it actually works. The appendix could serve any of several purposes but I will tell you this, it has a purpose or we wouldn't have one. because you or modern science does not know what the purpose is does not mean it doesn't have one. The flippers of whales are not evolved arms, they are flippers that utilized a previously existing design that works.. Why did God create Giraffes with an unnecessarily long laryngeal nerve that starts in its head, winds back down to its heart, and then winds all the way back up its neck? (e.g. non-intelligent design) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 I have always maintained that it take intelligence to perceive intelligence, and you are clearly not intelligent based on the idiotic questions along the atheist party line you have parroted. If you had a mind of your own you would not have asked some of these questions. A giraffe seems to me to be designed to exploit food that would be out of reach to other mammals, allowing for a higher density of prey items for predators to consume and a well regulated fauna. The oddities of the Giraffes physiology and biological designs are neccessary due to it's long neck. I am not sure about the nerve connections you describe or if it is even accurate, but I do know that the longer a nerve pathway the more loss there is along it. -This particular organ in Giraffes supports the idea of evolutionary change but does not support the idea of intelligent design. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68771585 Video - I simply do not agree, and just like everything else the evolution proponent does he seems to be workign towards proving the opposite of what he set out to. the Giraffe is actually an obviously intelligent design that allows it to exploit a food source out of reach to other animals. What you are suggesting is that intelligence is random and there is no order to ti and you are an idiot. As I have said a thousand times in the past , the most irrational idea I have ever heard postulated in science is the big bang theory and the spontaneous generation of life. |

I think it's more likely that life arose and developed to what we observe today by means that we have yet to fully understand - there may be cosmic forces at play, either natural or supernatural, that promote "organization" of life in carbon-based forms, that are undiscovered. My answer to "why did God" do this or that is disappointing to you? Sorry, but I don't speak for Him. How is that answer any different than one I might provide for "Why did Idi Amin do what he did"? How should I know? Idi was just a man... and I can't speak for him, why should I be able to speak for our Creator? Ask Him when you meet Him. I am a Christian. GREAT POST!
