History of Satan – Who is he?

Jesus Himself testified of Satan’s existence. During His ministry, He personally faced temptation from the devil (Matthew 4:1-11),

If SATAN is still around then Jesus didn't defeat him.

But a better question would be why would GOD leave SATAN on earth after the Flood? The purpose for the Flood was to cleanse the corruption the fallen angels in Genesis perpetrated on mankind, the question remains why would GOD destroy the humans and not those angels, or at least have them sequestered until Judgment day.
