I'm not taking any shots or vaccines but want to say it is possible for them to kind of catch you unaware.
One time a long time ago (1990?) I got bit by a stray cat, pretty deep. I finally went to urgent care because people were telling me horror stories, and it was swelling up. When I was there they did a few things then came in with a tetanus shot, put a piece of paper in front of me said here sign this and had that in my arm in just a few seconds. I had no time to think about it, and of course I was in that kind of disoriented state you get when you are injured and in an unfamiliar environment with people "in authority".
I would say if you go to the doctor for something else, make damn sure you are prepared to fend off a move like that. I didn't think much about the tetanus shot at the time, or even since then, however, I did not let them talk me into rabies shots, I thought that was retarded. The damn cat did not have rabies. People worry about the stupidest shit. They didn't get anywhere with me with that.
I took the wretched antibiotics though after they told me what could happen if my tendon sheath was nicked and the tendon got infected - horrors.
Anyway the point is they might foist this shot on you when you aren't expecting to have to put up a fight, so forewarned is forearmed. I don't plan on being anywhere near anyone with a needle or anywhere where the situation could come up - knock wood.
