Re: Need advice about high blood pressure
Hello Edgar,

Sorry you are having to deal with this. Make sure to set aside time for doing absolutely nothing. Make every effort to rest well and as someone pointed out turn it over to God. All you can do is the best you can and do not worry about that which you cannot accomplish. Set realistic goals and if something comes by that interferes then take it up the next day. Do NOT let others drive you.
Take a walk each and every day and while out look around you at the scenery and ask yourself what it is that you are looking at, then look a little deeper, closer and you will be amazed at the activity around you. Laugh and learn to laugh at yourself, we are entertaining way beyound what we think we are, just ask anyone, they will be sure to have observed something about you that makes them laugh and do not take umbrage because we all have our silly rituals or habits which amuse others.

There is a product called Cal-Max which has magnesium, calcium and abscorbic acid which makes available to the body the minerals. Take it in hot water at night and you will be utterly amazed at what it does for your muscles and how it relaxes you.

If something makes you feel bad tell your doctor immediately and have them work out another plan. I do not like meds but it is good to find a doctor with whom you can establish a trusting relationship.

Exercise, rest, good hydration and proper nourishment and trusting good relationships with a friend or loved one makes a huge difference and not taking ourselves too seriously.

Take care.

It is a pitty indeed...One thing I didn t mention is that hbp caused me enlargment of the heart walls.Hopefully it can get back to normal as far bp is not high and in all last special examinations I made the hurt shows to return to its normal size.It is not something to worry about but something to take care of...It might take a little though till it reaches to the point to get to the normal size again, perhaps one more year...My doctor said it is like a muscle of a hand.If you work it out too much in the gym it enlarges and when you stop working it out it gets back to normal size after some time.

Do you know guys what I feel I need most than all?Holidays! Most people connect holidays with pleasure and fun.I need it to rest and calm down. The last two seasons have been very difficult for me.I guess holidays would benifit me a lot.My doctor also recommended that.I hope I ll be able to do that soon.
Im not here to tell you how it ends, but how it begins...

Re: Need advice about high blood pressure
Get a treadmill and WALK. Nothing and I mean no thing will work better. Start with 10 min. a day and work your way up- treadmills can be found at MOST yard sales! And you will create so many of the natural neurotransmitters- serotonin, norepinephrine, endorphins, etc. all to help the natural relaxors in your own body.

Then cut out all processed foods- ALL of them- especially SUGAR! Keep a food journal to REALLY see in front of your eyes what you are eating. Drink plenty of filtered water- NO carbonated water ever, as it forces the renal system to work overtime in addition to dragging your minerals out of your bones!

Diet- you know what you eat and often we eat to satiate unmet needs- fulfillment! Be very mindful of what enters your mouth. Think about Carbs, proteins and fats. Make them ALL COUNT! Get creative with cooking.

I completely understand about the job- but if you do good at it- think about that. Go home, leave the job there! OR, if you dare, do something else. I only say that due to the economy. Many, many people are stuck in positions that are not their true callings. Which by the way, explore that thought. If you cannot get paid for what you really want to be doing, do it anyway! As in a hobby.

Realize that you are a gift unto the rest of us. And a gift unto yourself. And know that your shoulders are not those of Atlas, he was a jerk anyway. Do not attempt to carry the bags of others, pack light and carry your own.

My blood pressure WAS 197/130 and now it is 127/68 AT night. In the morning it is 100/60- without anything from BIG Pharma!

You CAN do it. Please let me know how you do! bump

Re: Need advice about high blood pressure
To Edgar and anyone else here who has Hypertension, do not take their medications that they give you, there is a reason it is called "Practicing Medicine" its because they really don't know. Hence the terrible side effects of their medications. I know that calls for a giant leap of faith for many of you but have faith and try what Edgar Cayce says..... EDGAR CAYCE'S PERSPECTIVE OF HYPERTENSION

The Edgar Cayce readings, while recognizing the wide variability associated with hypertension, consistently maintain that this disease most often can be traced back to patterns of poor circulation wherein the return flow of the blood to the heart is hindered. In other words, as the arteries carry the blood away from the heart to the various organs of the body and release the blood into the capillaries to nourish the tissue, engorgements and plethoric conditions in the capillaries and veins slow the blood flow as it is recycled to the heart.

Here are a couple of excerpts from the Cayce readings which describe the hindered circulation between the arteries and veins:

"As long as there's high blood pressure, as long as there's a tendency for the cells - in the change between the arterial and vein circulation so disturbed - to overflow at times (which IS the actual production or actual condition that produces pressure), under STRAIN there IS the possibility of a blood clot or cell breaking or forming - a bubble, see?" (389-2)

"The blood supply is high in the pressure. This is produced in the greater part by pressures that exist in the transverse and descending colon, and by too much flesh for the body-functionings - as through the abdominal areas....
(Q) Are the dizzy spells and headaches caused by any serious condition?
(A) Caused by this circulation that is so slow in returning to the activity of the central circulation - heart, lungs, liver, kidneys. And this produces, by this slow circulation, the extreme high blood pressure." (3525-1)

This pattern of hindered circulation was most often noted in the large intestine (colon) resulting in toxic conditions and poor eliminations which further increased the blood pressure.

"(Q) How can high blood pressure be reduced?
(A) This may be reduced by the deep manipulations and colonic irrigations. This, too, will rise again, but it can be kept down in this manner - as keeping off of meats of any kind." (3305-1)

"There is a subluxation in the 6th and 5th dorsal, as well as a condition out of alignment in the 9th dorsal.
These first produced tendencies for a disturbance in the circulation through the liver and the emptying of the stomach proper. This slowing of the lymph through the circulation in the abdominal area causes an engorgement in the ascending and a part of the transverse colon; of course, a form of prolapsus in the descending and a portion of the transverse.
This combination causes a high blood pressure, or metabolism as disturbed in the body. (2388-1)

Note the references to spinal problems and manipulations to correct these conditions in the nervous system in addition to the problems in the colon. The treatment recommendations which follow address both of these areas.

EDGAR CAYCE'S THERAPEUTIC MODEL

Recognizing the systemic effects involved in hypertension, the primary treatment modalities are comprehensive and address various aspects of the condition:

INTERNAL CLEANSING: Hydrotherapy includes drinking six to eight glasses of pure water daily, colonic irrigations (preferably) or enemas, and cleansing diet of fresh fruits and vegetables. Castor oil packs across the abdomen are recommended to improve eliminations through the liver and colon. Mild laxatives may be helpful if constipation is a problem.
SPINAL MANIPULATION AND MASSAGE: Osteopathic or chiropractic treatment is recommended to relieve any pressures that may be hindering circulation. Special attention is to be paid to the thoracic vertebrae (2nd to 9th thoracic) as this portion of the spine was often cited in the Cayce readings on hypertension. If osteopathic or chiropractic treatment is not available, the use of an electric vibrator along the spine may be helpful. Finally, gentle massage is suggested to relax the body and balance the circulation.
DIET: The Basic Cayce Diet is intended to improve assimilation and elimination. The diet focuses heavily on keeping a proper alkaline/acid balance while avoiding foods which produce toxicity and drain the system. Essentially, the diet consists mainly of fruits and vegetables while avoiding fried foods and refined carbohydrates ("junk food"). Certain food combinations are emphasized.
RADIAL APPLIANCE: The Radial Appliance is a subtle energy device frequently recommended by Edgar Cayce to balance the circulation and relax the body. Most people do not feel anything during a treatment session, but notice improved sleep and sense of well being with repeated use. Edgar Cayce emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude while attached to the appliance and encouraged individuals to meditate during the therapy sessions.
MODERATE EXERCISE: Moderate exercise is an important aspect of balanced living. Walking was a favorite exercise recommended by Edgar Cayce for people suffering from high blood pressure. A daily walk after supper is a good place to start.
ATTITUDES AND EMOTIONS: The mental and emotional aspects of healing are frequently discussed the Cayce readings. Particularly, an attitude of desiring and expecting to be healed is important. A positive mental and emotional attitude and can be created and maintained by focusing on a high purpose (ideal) for being healed.

The reason why I began this thread is because I want to stop taking HBP medication which causes me strong side effects and seek natural remedies to cure this problem.Yesterday though I restarted taking medication because without it my BP is about 110/160.I began a special diet since this August and I guess this will take some months to give results.

Do you think it s a good idea not to take medication with a BP of this range?Unfortunately apart from doctors also common people buy the idea that medication is absolutely necessary and should be taken forever.

Cease to put into your body those 'foods' that contribute to hardening of the arteries.
eg anything with trans fatty acids in it Google trans fats.
Eat butter, olive oil, research good oils.
Stay clear of any margarine or'butter blend' that comes in a plastic container.
Raise your heart rate for 10min each day.
red wine (alcohol thins the blood)
Fish oil (salmon) thins the blood.
Yes High blood pressure and stress appear to go hand in hand. Also, those who are under a stressful period usually have pisspoor diets consisting of manufactured foods prepackaged ready to go. Thats like having mum prep your meals for ya each night.
The difference being now, mum is an evil fukn bitch who only cares about taking as much out of your wallet for the least of outlays. And the quacks get to pick up the pieces by prescribing more mummy recommended cures in the form of pharmaceuticals, manufactured by evil fukn bitch companies whose only interest is to take as much as possible out of your wallet for the least amount of outlay.
One last thing, if your body is being fed shit, it is not possible for it to deal with a stressful situation as easily as if it was healthy. Vicious cycle, resulting in a head up ya arse death (not getting personal, an analogy), perpetuated by ignorance. Good to see you exploring healthy solutions and not relying on a governmental, legally defined word such as 'cure'.

Good oils.
Anything "COLD PRESSED IN A DARK BOTTLE OR TIN"
Extra virgin olive oil, cold pressed. (low heat cooking and salads)
Butter unsalted
Cold pressed grape seed oil (High heat cooking)
Sodium is now known as salt. It is not real salt.
Get down to the health food store and get yaself Himilayan rock salt. Has most minerals lacking from todays vegies coz of the depleted soil
Magnesium
Thats ya basics, start with that. Take the time to prep ya meals from scratch. The mindset of "oh, I dont have enough time" is bullshit.
If ya don't eat right, you willl die prematurely, how is that for not enough time?
It's blunt but true.
Here is a tidbit. When consumed, and with exercise, these fats and oils actually encourage the artery walls to become supple.
Ignore bullshit about cholesterol. Ya body needs it.
Trans fats coat the walls of the arteries, clogging and hardening, which results in a trip to the quacker to be prescribed blood pressure tablets and cholesterol lowering bullshit pills.

Yes you have received some very good information here - the magnesium worked for me. I took twice to three times the amount recommed on the bottle every day, then after one week I measured the difference. Came right down to 120/80 very good. Then I ran out of magnesium and did not get any right away. After about a week it started climbing up again so I bought some more magnesium and took it every day and it came back down. So now I take it every day.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE: LICORICE (THE BLACK CANDY) PANDA BEAR ETC. MAKES YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE RISE A LOT. YOU CAN EAT LICORICE TO THE POINT OF CAUSING A STROKE OR HEART ATTACK. SO BEWARE OF THAT. SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT. THE REAL LICORICE.

Re: Need advice about high blood pressure
I, too, was going to mention Magnesium.

Also, a B Complex is great for stress.

Another good route would be looking into whether you have a sleep disorder. Sleep apnea can cause hypertension and stress. The "cure" for that would be to put you on a CPAP machine.

I understand about the meds. My husband (he's 33 and been on meds since he was probably 28) had to try several before he found one his body could tolerate. One made him itch. One made him cough constantly (which was incredibly annoying for me, too!) But then he was diagnosed with sleep apnea and went on a CPAP. Most wonderful thing ever. :) He doesn't keep me awake all night now and his blood pressure is great. His dr. told him he could go off his meds, but he's stayed on them for now. He's working on losing some weight and then hopefully he won't need the CPAP or meds.

Please be sure to monitor your blood pressure until you do find something that works. It's not something to mess around with. A stroke or heart attack at 31 would be a lot worse than being on meds at 31. :(

Re: Need advice about high blood pressure
Since 2007 I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. The problem apparently was caused from the stress of my job at that time which also caused me a burnout.I began taking medication without offering me any real help. After visiting another speacialist I began medication in late 2008.The new medicine (Pactens) lowered the blood pressure but had terrible side effects which ended me up 3 times to the hospital with an ambulance!I asked my doctor to change that and since June I began taking another one ( Aprovel 150 mgs ).It has less side effects and lowers the blood pressure but less than the previous one(it reaches usually about 100-140).The problem for me are the side effects which prevent me having a normal life.Unfortunately doctors are stubborn about the side effects of these medicines. At first they refuse they have any and later they ask you to accept them...Therefore I decided to stop taking medication the last couple of weeks. At first me blood pressures raised a little but I felt ok though the last three days-I m not sure why-my blood pressure raised a lot having tense symptoms such as dizziness etc.I guess I ll have to restart taking the medicine.I m sure my doctor will suggest that unless he prescribes me a new one.

The last period I ve been searching alone for natural remedies that would help lower the blood pressure and began a diet with fruits, vegetables, garlic, cocoa and red wine.My doctor said the problem is most probably caused from stress. This summer has indeed been very difficult for me and didn t get the chance to rest which I feel I really need for the burnout I have.My nerves are also in a bad condition.

I d like to get some advice from people who know about this high blood pressure problem and specially from those who have had it in the past and dealed with it succesfully. What should I do in order to lower my blood pressure?Should I take medicine or not? Will a special diet have results and after how long?Is there any other natural remedy to use in my diet?Is high blood pressure curable? If stress caused it will high blood pressure be gone when stress is releaved?I have heard and read about people who have had this in the past and went over it and this encourages me.I don t want to waste my life from this early age of 31 taking these medicine with all these terrible side effects and most of all I don t want to have high blood pressure in the rest of my life.I d like to see responsible answers specially from people who have dealed with this succesfully in the past.

L-Arginine (an amino acid) is a precursor to NO (Nitric-oxide) which is a vasodilator which will lower your BP. Make sure to take it with an antioxidant like C or E.....

Oh...great point! DEFINITELY cut back on your sodium!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 746758

Switched years ago to all KCl. The extra potassium may have adverse reactions with certain medications though and I'd ask your doctor first. WebMD and other internet sites are not always a good source.

We get plenty of NaCl from daily food intake without sprinkling on more. The RDA or the RMDA for NaCl is in contention if KCl is used in its place. No call on it yet.

Interesting how our cells are more potassium based then sodium based. Both are salts.

Re: Need advice about high blood pressure
Edgar,

I didn't realize I had high blood pressure until I went for a pre employment check up. My pressure was so high that they wanted me to go to the emergency room right away. Needless to say, I did not get the job.

I found information about balsamic vinegar online. Maybe any vinegar would work but balsamic is loaded with polyphenols which boosts the immune system. I mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar with 6 ounces of water in the morning and drink. My daughter takes my blood pressure a few time a week and it is now in the normal range.

Perhaps this will work for you too.

Apple cider vinegar will do this as well. Don't forget to get iodine. Kelp pills or Lugol's - a couple of grams a day will really clear out those foggy mental processes, as well - don't believe the RDA on the back of the bottle.

Re: Need advice about high blood pressure

Re: Need advice about high blood pressure
I competely agree with Anonymous Coward guy. The food industry created our addictions to the junk products that kill us slowly ( or quickly). To get the idea how to heal yourself, read the Schwarzbein Principle and Schwarzbein Principle 2 by Diana Schwarzbein. Another good book is Insulin: Our Silent Keller by Thomas Smith.
I had elevated blood pressure because of bad food choises and constant stress. It was not too high, but bad enough. Sometimes 160 / 90. The sources I mentioned gave me knowledge and to the motivation to eat well. My resting bp now is around 110 / 70 with no medications.

Salt has nothing to do with it. Get the RAVE Diet book and start on it immediately.
