It would be shit and have more false detections than the good ones.

It may be in one of the ads on there but I don't see ads and load no scripts.

So I visited piratebay to see what was happenign with the place. A few mins later fake anti-virus software was installed on my computer then I realised what was going on hit start hsutdown restart and that triggered the virus to fuckup my mbr.

The only way to browse safely is a non-persistent virtual machine. You have a pristine OS (any OS) every time you start it up. And performance is not an issue if your hardware is within a few years old.

demonoid was pretty good until they went down for a year - Since then, every torrentor worth his salt has moved on.
I can't tell you where though because...

I've received a virus on two separate occasions from tpb both of those times it was immediately after searching for a torrent. It wasn't too catastrophic as I set up a restore point just before going to the site, knowing the benefits out weigh the risk

Once again...commerce takes over. Hell, if I had the money to startup a goood P2P system that wasn't subject to most of the "western" world laws, I would do the same. and if I couldn't...I would sell spam advertising....it's to bad that Pirate Bay sold out..guess I am gonna have to go back to serving my own software via my Venz. server. I'd say it's time to format and re-install your operating system. Perfect working copies of corporate XP are available on P/B and they work great. No serial...no activation and no register. I can re-install as often as needed. My advice?...Get a cheap computer for P/B purposes only. Let that one get the virus, if there is one. That way you're not wrecking a good computer.....Or...start using Linux Ubunto.

I do computer repair for a living, if you go to top 100, it hits you with scripts.....rogue antivirus. def confirmed. view the page source....shady shit

So, those false alerts that you TPB advertisers keep talking about? They disabled my task manager, kept me from getting on the internet, slowed down my computer to a crawl, and disabled my virus scans. Twice. The first time the computer blue screened a couple of times and then crashed altogether. The second time, I knew what was coming and caught it in time. That's some pretty impressive work for a false alert!

I've just got my computer clean again and I'm here trying to find out how to keep that stuff from getting on my computer, but it looks pretty clear... Stay off TPB.

why aren't you using avast free? are you a moran?

the torrent site i usually use says possible virus at some so i don't go there
