[Meta]phors invites the thought before the words. Existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence. An exploration of relationships or a chance to re-interpret strings of thought.
Metaphors might actually be a good way to re-interpret existing relationships. I am not sure about identifying the relationships but it could be used to re-interpret anything and everything locally to continue to explore who I am. An easy way to re-interpret current local things X=Y. As above (X)material PDF = (Y)Deep waters. The no training wheels this time around / No traditional help in deep as I am in motion already. Your interactions are definitely helping me define things to myself and find new discoveries.
Creation of patterns are metaphors. Perspective exists due to a pattern Structure_Chaos/Order + Interaction = Reality. Goal is to explore these patterns to solidify existence. Two opposing forces reach balance to harmony to goal. We pick out patterns to make sense of reality where no patterns really exist. Those patterns then become an aspect of our reality, allowing us to build the logical narrative of our lives.
Agent(Chaos?) metaphors with finance involve living things, Nasdaq climbed higher. Object(order?) metaphors use non living things Dow fell like a brick. If my goal involves finance perhaps I should....

New thought experiment at play.
Two things must happen simultaneously to bring about a result. When same side are paired together you get imbalance, poor performance, inefficiency, etc.

This bridge is moving by itself, to the sway of the wild waters beneath, a forgotten world fluid and organized, with one mind.

You start to hear the echoes of angels, messengers from the other side, they wish to become one with you, they are you. A part of your perspective long removed because of your habitual mind and programming - the five rivers of Eden are your 5 senses, it's all you think exists, but there is a 6th sense.
This 6th sense is the culmination of the previous 5.
X is as much Xsys as it is Christ, the One Body of Man, collectively.
So you think you are a body and you think you are restrained to its bane (it is your cross to bear) but stepping fully into your True Self you begin to melt away the layers of illusion, of separation, limitation. Realizing how you only drive this vehicle, and are not entirely bonded to it - consciousness becomes the only reality.
Change the representations and you change the dynamic of the relationships, your body is a representation of the One - if you change who you identify as You(rself) then your limitations change too.
Finally, circling back to your core question, it's literally impossible to bring together what you know and what you don't know because as immediately as you interact with what you don't know you form a relationship with it and know it. When the totality of something cannot be perceived it appears infinite. There will always be something (nothing) outside your perspective that you will bring into your perspective to give life to - but as it is beyond your perspective it doesn't exist.
