Umm Atheist Communist Nations have fought wars between themselves. Russia-China, China - Vietnam. What does World War 1 and 2 have anything to do with religion? Were the hell did you go to school?

Actually if you look closer they were all over land or resources and religion was just used as a "rallying call" to get the troops to fight.

Wars are fought for a variety of reasons: population pressures, resources, religion, ego, what have you. Sure, religion is typically embedded deeply in most countries that go to war, but that is part of the cultural identity. It isn't really fair to say that it was the root of the war.

Now, if you want to talk about the potential damage that can come from the blending of religion and power, then your thread can get back on track: tons of examples from Muslim and Christian history to enjoy!

I got a masters in European History, focus on military history. Dawkins is full of it on this part. There really wasn't a religious dimension to these modern wars.

However, religious wars include, the Thirty Years War, the English Civil War, the persecution of the Hugenots, the Reconquista, the Crusades, the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
