Morel Mushrooms are one of the most prized, wild, edible mushrooms in the world. Morel mushrooms have long been harvested throughout the bluff country adjacent to the Mississippi River. The forests of this area have been known to produce the finest morels available due to the high levels of limestone.

Wiebke Fur Company has been buying fresh morel mushrooms for over 20 years. We buy most of our mushrooms from the tri-state area of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, however we are also looking for suppliers in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. We sell our mushrooms throughout the country to restaurants, produce markets and other wholesale distributors. We also sell nationwide on a retail level.

We produce Blonde / Yellow morel mushrooms. The yellow (blonde) mushrooms are considered a delicacy in throughout the world. The yellow morels are the finest tasting and most tender variety of the morel mushroom family. We ask that they not be confused with the less desirable black morels, which are produced in the Western States and Canada. Mushrooms are available during the month of May. hmm.. isn't that time yet around here. still in the eighties.

The police, or anyone else come to that, can't do anything to you for picking and eating psilocybin mushrooms here, only for drying and storing them can you get into trouble.

Generally, the wet [sunny/wet/sunny] period before the end of summer / just before autumn is the best time for picking here in central Scotland.

Always sticks in my head as being around the last week in August, through the first two or three weeks in September; it all depends on the weather really.

They just grow wild. I have tried a few, in omelets and made various sauces and concoctions but I am a bit old for tripping around now. They just grow, then go away and then grow again. If drying them is illegal, try putting them in olive oil.

Ahh, that might work, although it's been a while since I read the exact wording of the law so I'm not certain.

Yeah, same here when I used to take Red Dragons [Ellis Dee] ;); the people I bought them from were going to the pub and stuff.

Me and my pals were in Glen Nevis in the highlands, not next to, but right IN nature.

I could swear I started getting a buzz out of mushrooms while still picking them sometimes, possibly something to do with the dusky, low-light or something, but one of my buds had a theory that the psilocybin was being absorbed through our fingertips.

Sounds pretty good, but for $100, I'd be wanting a years supply.

But hey.. you BUY batter?

A 40-year-old woman has died after eating highly poisonous wild mushrooms picked from a botanic garden in the Isle of Wight.

A second woman in her twenties is seriously ill at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, where her condition was described yesterday as stable and conscious.

The names of the two, who are related, were being withheld last night. They are believed to have tasted the fungi – possibly death cap mushrooms – on Monday after the younger woman had collected them during a visit to Ventnor Botanical Gardens the previous day.

Police were called to the older woman’s home in Newport just after 7am yesterday. Despite efforts to revive her she was pronounced dead by paramedics.

An hour later officers were called to a second house just over a mile away, where they found the younger woman in need of emergency medical treatment.

Police said that the younger woman told them how she had picked handfuls of wild mushrooms with her husband at the gardens on Sunday.

The death is not being treated as suspicious. Officers have recovered mushrooms from the woman’s home, which are now being investigated.

The Isle of Wight Council, which runs the gardens, said in a statement: “While the circumstances are currently being investigated, it appears a large quantity of wild mushrooms – including the toxic death cap mushroom – were collected from the vicinity of Ventnor Botanic Garden earlier this week and subsequently eaten. The death cap mushroom is not cultivated by Ventnor Botanic Garden – no mushrooms or fungi form part of the displays – but is believed to have been growing wild in the 22-acre site. Death cap mushrooms are a common species found all over the Island and the UK.”

Four people have had to seek medical treatment after having eaten white Amanitas (Amanita virosa), highly toxic mushrooms also known as "destroying angels". Two of the patients have been brought to the intensive care unit of the Surgical Hospital in Helsinki, and it is likely that yet another patient with mushroom poisoning will end up in the same hospital. Only one of the four victims can be treated in a central hospital of his or her own hospital area. The four persons with mushroom poisoning come from various parts of Southern Finland.

The poisoning victims who have been brought to Helsinki are in serious condition, and their lives are in danger. Chief physician Anna-Maria Koivusalo of the intensive care unit of Helsinki’s Surgical Hospital reports that four patients with mushroom poisoning during one weekend is an exceptionally large number. The Surgical Hospital has annually treated one to five patients suffering from severe mushroom poisoning. Milder cases are treated locally in a central hospital. Previously the number of mushroom poisonings was higher than average in 2005.

The patients brought to the Surgical Hospital are being treated with the so-called molecular adsorbents recirculating system (MARS), a form of artificial liver support that has the potential to remove toxins from the organs. If the MARS therapy is not sufficient, the patients should have liver transplant surgery as soon as possible. Following Amanita poisoning, the patient gets severe symptoms within less than 12 hours. Such symptoms include vomiting and dehydration. The patient also feels very sick. Mushroom poisoning leads to liver necrosis within approximately ten days.

The white Amanita is often mistaken for blushing wood mushrooms (Agaricus silvaticus). However, while white Amanitas are very common, blushing wood mushrooms are a very rare species, which can hardly ever be found in the Finnish woods. Other species that bear a passing resemblance to this killer are the field (or meadow) mushroom (Agaricus campestris) and horse mushroom (Agaricus arvensis). In general, physicians and mushroom experts advise all uncertain mushroom-pickers to leave all white mushrooms in the forest.

Which goes to prove you should know what you're looking for before you go picking and preferably go with a person who has experience of picking them.

These dumbasses need to stick to McDonalds and Taco Bell instead of learning to survive on their own. They have no survival skills.
I'll be glad when these fast food chains become obsolete. People will have to learn how to cook for themselves all over again,lol!
No wonder America is going to hell in a hatbox. We deserve to after being spoiled for so fucking long! All the minorities will cry when the fast food restaurants close down. That KFC will be a distant memory to alot of folks soon.
I'd rather learn how to forage for my own food and learn to raise it,and grow it,just so I can eat. At least I know how to survive, People need to learn to do the same all over with a certified expert who will not charge them outrageous sums of money for an hr or so in the woods. Positive, 100% verification of the species by using field guides and spore prints, or being guided by someone with knowledge.

Shame not to eat any white mushrooms, since oyster mushrooms are often white, and quite tasty. Of course, always make sure that you only eat mushrooms that are harvested in prime condition.

Spore prints are really beautiful. Place the mushroom gills down on a piece of good paper and cover with a glass bowl. Wait a while and you get an incredibly detailed negative of the shroom. Matt em up and frame them. Maybe print the latin or common name of the mushroom in the bottom corner. Voila! Homemade nature art.

For mushrooms with white spores, use black or other colored paper. Very cool. Looks like scratchboard.

Also, should mention that if you are using field guides, you cannot always trust the plates to field identify a shroom. The plate is one picture. One example of what that mushroom might look like at a given time and place. There are many subtle variations in color,etc. Some mushrooms are pretty easy, like oysters, and chicken of the woods, and turkey tails, and morels, but a lot of the others are much trickier.

I try to field identify. If I am not sure, I bring it home and do a spore print, and look at other plates of the same mushroom, and read about all the other varieties that are look-alikes. If after that, I am still uncertain, I skip it.

Great puffballs over here in the States...

I don't hunt magic mushrooms because I am afraid I'd puke from the initial GI effects. I'm scared of puking. The one time I took psylocybin, I liked it; but I had to take three times as much as anyone else to get an effect, and I kept having to remind myself to breathe. Didn't learn anything from it I couldn't have learned with active dreaming or meditation, but it was pleasant enough.
