I went to Gateway Church in Austin, Texas last Sunday morning, and the church's worship leader, who is a dark-haired guy (don't know his name) who sings lead vocals and plays lead guitar, did that hand signal several times during our praise and worship session. He did it when he sang "Hallelujah." I wish I had it videotaped. My jaw about hit the floor. And someone better not give me the B.S. "But it's Longhorn country" as an excuse. That man is a Satanic infiltrator.

There is more abominable things going on in that church besides that. But I'll stick to the hand signal for this thread.

Actually, I think they do videotape their sermons, so maybe I could find it online. If I do, I'll post it here for everyone to see.

Well, these two dudes reached MILLIONS of people and popularized it...

Perhaps a more sinister question is whether or not the proliferation of this sign had a darker motive than just juvenile entertainment...

I have seen something like that representing a wolf's head also. The two raised fingers are the ears, middle finger and ring finger face forward and form the snout together with the thumb. It's shown in one of those photos you have linked.

In most cases though I think people are using it, because it looks kinda cool. For example I have my doubts, that the insinc (sp?) guys or all those rappers are even remotely smart enough to be part of a giant conspiracy to enslave all mankind. They are probably used as tools, but they don't know shit.

What better way to do it, but through the influence these people have over us, especially our children.

Take a look at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Most of these people (artists) are on there, chosen by our children.

Re: If The "Horned Hand" Symbol SUPPOSEDLY Represents The TX Longhorns, Why Do So Many People Around The World Use It?
The meaning of symbols is not always the same. For instance what you think as long horns is understood by others as Shaka Brau.  Brau was explained to mean brother by members of my wifes family when we first went there to be married in the Fern Grotto.

The Shaka Symbol speedbanan
Anyone who has visited the islands has no doubt seen the famous hand gesture coupled with the greeting “shaka, brah!” A shaka sign – the unmistakable pinky and thumb salute – is the ultimate symbol of aloha and local culture in Hawaii. Interpreted to mean “hang loose” or “right on,” the shaka is a constant reminder that in Hawaii, it is not the norm to worry or rush. The shaka sign represents the embodiment of “island style.” It signals that everything is alright.

From surfers and keiki (kids) to bank tellers and news anchors, the shaka sign is universal in the islands. Use the shaka sign wherever and whenever you want to spread a little aloha, say thanks for letting you cut in on the road, or along with aloha as hello or goodbye. The shaka sign is more than just nonverbal communication. When you use it, you acknowledge the true concept of aloha and participate in the synergistic heartbeat of Hawaii. - [link to www.to-hawaii.com]

by Elder Bruce R. McConkie:
Gospel understanding and literature is gloriously enhanced and beautified by the abundant use of symbols and figurative expressions. Since Christ is the center of the gospel system and the one through whom salvation comes, most of the basic symbolical representations tie into him and his atoning sacrifice. "Behold, all things have their likeness, and all things are created and made to bear record of me, both things which are temporal, and things which are spiritual; things which are in the heavens above, and things which are on the earth, and things which are in the earth, and things which are under the earth, both above and beneath: all things bear record of me." (Moses 6:63.)

By way of illustration: Sacrifices were performed in "similitude of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten of the Father." (Moses 5:7.) We partake of the sacrament in remembrance of the broken flesh and spilled blood of our Lord. (Luke 22:13-20; D. & C. 20:77-79.) Baptism is performed by immersion to typify the death, burial, and resurrection of our Redeemer. (Rom. 6:1-6.)

Moses lifted the brazen serpent before Israel to point their attention forward to the day when their God would be lifted up upon the cross. (John 3:14-15; Hela. 8:13-15.) The manna, or bread from heaven, was sent to foreshadow and bear record of the coming day when Christ, the Bread of Life, would come down from heaven. (John 6:30-58.) Indeed, the whole Mosaic Law, in all its parts and portions, was so ordained as to bear record of the future coming of Jehovah in the flesh. (Mosiah 13:29-35.)

Abraham was obedient to the command to offer up Isaac, "which is a similitude of God and his Only Begotten Son." (Jac. 4:5.) The Sabbath Day, from Adam to Moses, bore record that Christ the Creator had rested from his labors on the 7th day (Ex. 20:8-11); from Moses to Christ's mortal ministry, it pointed attention to the deliverance of Israel from Egyptian bondage by the power of the Holy One of Israel (Deut. 5:12-15); and from the day of his resurrection to the present, the Lord's Day has been holy in commemoration of his coming forth as the firstfruits of them that slept. (D. & C. 59:9-17.)

And so illustrations might be multiplied at great length -- all showing how various gospel ordinances and performances bear record of Christ or of some great truth that centers in him. - [link to www.lightplanet.com]

The Spirit of Aloha = it's a law.

Yep, Shaka Brau uses the thumb spread wide. Good to know the Aloha spirit is not corrupted.

What does “Aloha” mean?  According to To-Hawaii.com, “aloha” can mean hello, goodbye, love and affection.  But its meaning goes well beyond any definition you can find in dictionaries.  In Hawaii, you hear aloha all the time and you are treated with aloha everywhere.  (Hawaii is called the Aloha State, and for good reason.)  Aloha express the charm, warmth and sincerity of Hawaii’s people.  It was the working philosophy of Native Hawaiians; they felt it was presented as a gift to the people of Hawaii by one of their ancient gods.

The literal meaning of aloha is “the presence of breath” or “the breath of life.”  (It’s interesting that in the Bible, in the book of Genesis, when God created Adam He “breathed into him the breath of life,” and Adam “became a living being.”)  The word “aloha” comes from “Alo,” meaning presence, front and face, and “ha,” meaning breath.

According to the old kahunas (priests), being able to live the Spirit of Aloha was a way of sending and receiving positive energy, or living in harmony.  Aloha was and still is a way of living and treating each other with love and respect.

Inspired by the philosophy and the wisdom of the Spirit of Aloha, nowadays many institutions and businesses in Hawaii carry its name:  Aloha Tower, Aloha Stadium and Aloha Airlines.  Many Hawaiian singers write and perform songs about aloha as well.

Believe it or not, Aloha Spirit is considered a state “law.”  Although the word law sounds too strong and strict, Aloha Spirit is not a type of law that will get you in trouble if you break it.  Having “the Law of Aloha Spirit” on the books serves as a reminder to government officials (while they perform their duties) to treat people with deep care and respect, just like their ancestors did.   Aloha Spirit is more a lesson than a law.   By learning and applying this lesson to real life, government officials can contribute to a better world, a world filled with aloha.

So by now you may understand that “Aloha” is more than a word of greeting or farewell, or a salutation.  Aloha means mutual regard and affection, and is a reminder to extend warmth and caring for others with no obligation (payback) in return.  Furthermore, aloha is the essence of relationships in which each person is important to every other person.

Queen Lili‘uokalani said, “Aloha is to learn what is not said, to see what cannot be seen, and to know the unknowable.”

I greet you in the Spirit of Aloha, and pray that you will discover the “breath of life” found in the Person of Jesus Christ. - [link to lowellequalls.wordpress.com]

Re: If The "Horned Hand" Symbol SUPPOSEDLY Represents The TX Longhorns, Why Do So Many People Around The World Use It?
grizzy Hi V,

That was quite a good site that you linked to. I have seen 10 or 12 of the pictures elsewhere, but there where some really good ones that I was unaware of.

Guess who is being touted as a role model in that school speech that Obama is making? JK Rowling of Harry Potter fame. I must have done at least 6 or 7 Harry Potter threads over the years. But people don't respond anymore so I stopped doing them. Elaine who was the founder and owner of GLP, before Trinity took over in late 2004, was closely associated with Anton La Vey and a Buddhist witch. She used to pretty much let me have a go at anything else, but start bashing Buddhism and it was... thread deleted.

I don't know if you have seen this one...

This is an extract from the publicly released, latest draft of Obama's speech.

Whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. I want you to really work at it.

I know that sometimes, you get the sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work -- that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star, when chances are, you’re not going to be any of those things.

But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won’t love every subject you study. You won’t click with every teacher. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right this minute. And you won’t necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.
That’s OK. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who’ve had the most failures. JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was rejected twelve times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and he lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
