This is happening in a state that is bankrupt. Are they really that concerned with our safety?

The new guardrails will cost about $200,000 per mile, including labor and materials, said Nick Schirripa, a spokesman with MDOT in Southwest Michigan.

Seems to be happening all over the country at around the same time. Also using TARP money.

They're safer than cement jersey barriers -

Good Lord, you people can make a mountain out of a molehill -

If they were "for control" don't you think they would be higher and have razor wire - after all, one can step over them, or go through them quite easy, with just a small amount of thought and planning...

another do

Very good question...I noticed these too. They state they are for "crossover crashes", however...why are they in a "S" pattern? Here they line one side and cross to the other at the Authorized Only cut through. Are you guys seeing them line both sides or like this??

Sorry, not buying the reasoning for this. A hazard for motorcyclist, and big rigs will fly through, not to mention that only one side is covered...

Thanks OP saying just what I was wondering about...

But if at the Church they would give us some ale,
And a pleasant fire our souls to regale,
We'd sing and we'd pray all the live-long day,
And never once wish from the Church to stray.

They are installing those cable guard-rails all over Louisiana. I drive across the Gulf-South a lot.

The cable-guard rail has been going up for the last 2 years. They have put up at least a thousand miles plus of this stuff.

Like the guy said a half-stick should do this trick...

THey just did a rush job on an interstate north of New Orleans, saying it was to make it safer re: head on collisions, which is total BS as the median is HUGE on this highway. Watching them build a wall that goes for miles when the streets of the city are RUTTED OUT AND RUINED makes no sense at all, unless you consider the fact that they have also recently put cameras in even at the most bumblefuck exits in the middle of nowhere, where they are also resurfacing the hell out of backroads very few people travel.

The interstates are perfectly designed to control the flow of the masses, and it's really interesting as there are really only three roads into New Orleans. One of them floods, and two include VERY LONG BRIDGES going over the lake.
