I thought it was Chinese (chi energy). I guess it doesn't matter in the end- energy is key!

Principles of Healing

Healing is not the popular conception of removal of symptoms. Healing is to recover a greater experience of unity with the divine harmony, and our true selves. Healing is returning to a state of alignment with your Higher Self or true way of being.

It is western medical science that has made Healing be thought of as the removal of symptoms.

How It's Done

In its simplest form using Reiki is simply the practitioner placing their hands on the recipient with the intent of bringing healing, and willing for Reiki energy to flow.

There is a set of hand positions traditionally taught which give good coverage over the recipients entire body. It is not necessary to follow those positions, they are merely taught as a starting position from which the practitioner can learn. If there is a specific area of concern the practitioner can keep his/her hands right there for as long as necessary.

Remote Healings

To the world of spirit there is no such thing as time or space. Reading Barbara Brennan's books (Hands of Light, and Light Emerging) one sees why. The world we see around us is only a small fragment or slice of all which exists. This small fragment is that which our physical bodies can detect and transmit or describe to our consciousness, or which we can construct machines to extend the senses of our physical bodies. There is more in existance than what our bodies can detect in this way (though with some training and practice one can extend the range of what our consciousness can perceive).

Since there is no time and space to limit spirit, Reiki can operate without regard to limitations of space (at least). A level II Reiki practitioner can bring healing to a recipient regardless of distance.

In doing remote healings the recipient is to be objectified somehow, and the symbol drawn in the vicinity of the object representing the recipient. By objectified I mean that it is easier for the conscious mind to deal with objects than abstract things. Therefore when doing a remote healing it is easier on the healer to visualize sending the energy to something than otherwise.

There are many ways of visualizing or objectifying the recipient. For instance the healer might intend that their knee is the same as the intended recipient, which will create the necessary connection. Or they might draw in the air a shape to represent the recipient. Or use a teddy bear, pillow, or some other physical object as a stand in. The only limit is the healers imagination. For the healers intent is primary in bring forth the Reiki energy.

What is Reiki Energy Healing?
Energy healing is an alternative healing method, or rather, a collection of alternative methods of helping people heal by sending them universal energy. These methods are done by laying on of hands or by channeling the energy over any distance. While this may sound weird to more traditional people in the West, these methods are based on principles that have been in use in the East and in other forms in the West, for thousands of years. The essence of Reiki as experienced by humans is love and grace. Reiki allows us to offer ourselves and others this essence in a non-intrusive and profound way.

Reiki is spiritually guided Universal Life Force Energy. The word Reiki is Japanese in origin and literally means: Rei = Universal (in the sense of spiritually guided or from the Divine); ki = Life force energy (the same as chi or prana). To "use" Reiki is to channel this energy through one's body to one's self or another for healing purposes. Seichim is "living light energy", also spiritually guided universal life force energy. Reiki and Seichim are different "flavors" or vibrational levels of the Divine energy that makes up the life force of everything in the Universe. Neither one is a religion, nor do they require that one be of any particular religious belief.


Distance Energy Healing

The practitioner works as a conduit for the Universal energy, and the patient then uses that energy to help his body heal. Although Reiki is usually a hands on treatment, however, it is very powerful and very effective to send Distance Reiki Healings. Again this simply involves the intent of the practitioner, and the sending of very powerful energy.

"This approach to healing is based on the view that a special energy moves through all living things--a life energy that is the creative impetus for the universe, for all matter, and for the moment to moment feelings of each human being. This energy moves in pulsating rhythms that make up the seasons, the stages of the life cycle, the developmental phases of growth, the tidal rhythms of breath, the drumbeat of the heart, and the vibratory dance of the smallest particles inside each cell. Seen in terms of energy, the body consists of
energy centers (chakras),
energy pathways (meridians), and
energy fields (auras).

According to this school of thought, when energy circulates freely, people are healthy, happy, in touch with themselves, in direct energy-level communication with one another, and in tune with the universe. This energy has been called many names--"magnetism" in the early 19th century by Mesmer. The Yogic name for it is "prana." In Taoism and acupuncture, it is known by the Chinese term "chi" or "qi" (Japanese "ki"). Wilhelm Reich called it "orgone."

Each theory of healing has an explanation for the nature of human difficulty and disease. In this theory, for a multitude of reasons, life-energy readily becomes blocked in human beings. The channels through which it flows can be stopped up, weakening the energy in one part of the body, building it to excessive levels in another.

Each healing system also proposes a cure: When life-energy is blocked, it must be freed in order to bring about a healing of the problems caused by that blockage--problems that include acute and chronic diseases, personality disorders, mood afflictions, psychological aberrations, anger, frustration, depression, cruelty, addiction, anxiety, indecisiveness, and all the adaptations we make to these conditions.

Life-energy may be released and rebalanced through a number of means. Acupuncturists use needles, pressure, and the precise application of heat to balance the flow of "chi" through elaborately mapped pathways called "meridians."
Reiki manipulate and moves energy with the hands, not to remove muscular tension in a mechanical sense, but to clear the deep energy pathways of the body. The "healing hands" movement among holistic nurses uses touch and also works with the energy field that surrounds the body.

In the ancient method of the laying on of hands, healing energy is transmitted from one person to another by touch, to reenergize or rebalance the afflicted part. When the energy of healing hands is transmitted to others at a distance, it is then called Distance Healing."

As we get closer to 2012, the energy field of Mother Earth is changing. The energy field is lightening and quickening. As the energy vibration of the planet changes so too does the energy field of each individual person need to change. As the energy vibration grows lighter and moves faster it is like being in a tornado: all those who are able to change with the energy vibration will move towards the center of the energy vibration. The space in the center of the energy vibration is quiet and peaceful. All those who are not able to change and is heavy and dense will move to the edge of the energy vibration field and experience the intensity of the energy at the outside of the energy vibration field.

I suspect that most people would rather be in the center of the energy vibration field, where it is quiet, peaceful and calm. In order to be in the center, it is necessary to change our personal energy vibration fields that surround our body. Therefore, the question is how do we change our own energy fields to go along with the changes that are occurring in the energy vibrational fields of Mother Earth?

One way to teach our own bodies energy field to vibrate along with that of mother earth is to work with the sacred energy sites on the planet. These sacred sites hold the keys to learning how to change our energy vibration fields.

There are sacred sites all over Mother Earth. Some of them are well known. We know they were used in the distant past, because the peoples of those times left monuments at these sites that still exist today. The pyramids of Egypt, the Sphinx, the Mayan Pyramids, Stonehenge, Mesa Verde, etc., are just a few of the well-known sacred sites. These sites hold knowledge, energy vibration and information that is still accessible today.

When Mystery School members do sacred ceremony at these sites at specific times of the year it opens their nervous systems to previously unavailable information. Just as the frequencies and intensities of solar energy affect and change the leaves on trees at specific times of the year, solar frequencies at the vernal and autumnal equinox and summer and winter solstice affect and change our nervous systems, allowing our energy vibrational fields to match those of the planet. These changes lead to greater connection with our universe, world and people on the planet, which are also vibrationally changing in this time of change. This greater connection to Cosmic Consciousness leads to greater knowing, which is a form of Intuition: knowing from feeling.

These changes in our nervous systems may initially be profound or subtle, but are always manifest. They manifest in unique ways in each individual depending on which physical and/or psychological blocks are present. As the blocks clear over time, a relationship with the greater consciousness becomes manifest for the individual. The individual begins to know beyond their current time frame or belief system. They come into Cosmic Consciousness.

These sacred sites hold information built into them in many ways. Buildings, temples and pyramids at these sites were constructed in certain patterns using sacred geometry to help activate the higher nervous system. Drawings and glyphs on pyramidal surfaces also represent sacred geometry as well as a form of record keeping. Mystery School meditation with sacred geometry can help the individual reawaken their body and nervous system to that of higher consciousness. As Hunbatz Men says, "Information is stored in stone and bone." We can connect with that higher information in these sacred sites that hold that information.

Each site may have different guardians or spirit keepers who protect the site but also assist appropriate, respectful seekers. When asked for help they may help the individual bring information held at that site into their nervous system, which affects change and evolution.

I have been a Reiki practitioner for over 15 years. Here is part of the text from a brochure that I give to people who are wanting information on Reiki.

Reiki is Universal Healing Energy. A Reiki treatment is a channeling of Universal Healing Energy to another person, or to oneself.

The word “Reiki” is Japanese in origin. REI means Spiritual Wisdom, and KI means the Vital Life Force. REIKI translates to “Spiritually Guided Healing Energy.”

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM REIKI?
Anyone who is experiencing any degree of stress, from the slightest to the the most extreme, or any form of illness or injury, can benefit from Reiki. A Reiki treatment will generally produce a profound sense of peace and relaxation, which is the result of God-Healing Energy being directed into the client by the Reiki Practitioner. Reiki does not take the place of prescribed medical treatment, but it does hasten the healing process. Reiki treatments have been used successfully to reduce and/or eliminate pain; however, pain is a very complex issue, and this is a subject to discuss with your Reiki Practitioner — what kind of success has she or he experienced with Reiki as a tool for treating pain.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
In addition to the physical body, every living body has energy fields that swirl through it and surround it. These can be more completely understood by studying the subject of Chakras, about which many books are available. But briefly, the Chakras are wheels of rotating energy that exist throughout the body. The spiritual aura is the energy that surrounds the physical body and all the little wheels of rotating energy. Reiki therapy is directed to the Chakras and the aura, to cleanse and balance the client’s energy centers and surrounding energy field. When the energy centers and auric field are cleansed and balanced, the physical body is facilitated in the healing process.

A REIKI TREATMENT
The Reiki Practitioner is not the source of the energy, but rather a tool, a channel, through which God-Healing Energy is transmitted to the client. The client usually lies on a table for the Reiki session. The client is fully dressed, but with shoes removed.

The Practitioner will place her or his hands on positions around the head, shoulders, stomach, arms, feet and back of the person receiving the Reiki Energy. Reiki therapy can also be given without touching the body when that is necessary or requested.

A session normally lasts about an hour. However, even a brief session of a few minutes can help to reduce stress and restore a feeling of calmness to body, mind and spirit.

THE REIKI PRACTITIONER
The Reiki Practitioner has been attuned to direct the Universal Healing Energy into the client’s energy centers. (This could be compared to using jumper cables to recharge a sluggish car battery. In this analogy, the Reiki Practitioner is the “jumper cable” between the Universal Healing Energy and the client.)

Sorry to disappoint you, but Reiki is s scam! It might help those who believe in it a little, like a Placebo-Effect.

But it's main Purpose is to trick People into paying lots of money for becoming a 'higher Grade' Reiki-Teacher.

That's my personal experience with it.
