French President Sarkozy slams naive Obama for living in 'virtual world' on Iran

Many observers felt his big UN speech was egocentric, apologetic, and overly critical of the United States, though it has garnered praise from some rather…um…colorful characters – including tin pot dictators Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

Perhaps sensing that the new President is the most easily-rolled American commander-in-chief elected in recent memory, Iran has responded to Obama’s efforts to unite the UN in opposition to nuclear proliferation by signaling that the Iranian nation’s ruling Islamofascists are closer than ever to producing a nuclear weapon.

That could signal the destruction of Israel, as Ahmadinejad is an unrepentant anti-Semite who has again taken to belligerence and Holocaust denial in recent months.

With a showdown between a potentially nuclear Iran and the rest of the world looming in the background, Obama still clings to the hope of worldwide nuclear disarmament, praising the United Nations anti-nuclear weapons pact:

“The historic resolution we just adopted enshrines our shared commitment to a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. We now face proliferation of a scope and complexity that demands new strategies and new approaches.”

But French President Nicolas Sarkozy apparently has had it with Obama’s apology tour of weakness, urging the United States’s chief executive come down hard on Iran, according to the UK Telegraph:

Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, came close to mocking his American counterpart for the good intentions, which Mr. Obama had heralded as an "historic" step towards nuclear abolition, even though it set no specific targets or fresh mandates.

"We live in a real world not a virtual world," the Frenchman told the 15-member council. "And the real world expects us to take decisions.

"President Obama dreams of a world without weapons ... but right in front of us two countries are doing the exact opposite.

"Iran since 2005 has flouted five security council resolutions. North Korea has been defying council resolutions since 1993.

"I support the extended hand of the Americans, but what good has proposals for dialogue brought the international community? More uranium enrichment and declarations by the leaders of Iran to wipe a UN member state off the map," he continued, referring to Israel.

The sharp-tongued French leader even implied that Mr. Obama's resolution 1887 had used up valuable diplomatic energy.

"If we have courage to impose sanctions together it will lend viability to our commitment to reduce our own weapons and to making a world without nuke weapons," he said.

Mr. Sarkozy has previously called the US president's disarmament crusade "naïve".

Dang, Sarkozy, tell us how you really feel – don’t hold back, brutha.

Ever thought you would like to see the day when a French President would be slamming an American President for foreign policy weakness – and not be joking?

Neither did I.

Re: French President Sarkozy slams naive Obama for living in 'virtual world' on Iran
When I watch our President on the world stage I am embarrassed, but remind my self that he is nothing but a figurehead as are all the other leaders of nations around the world. At least he is taller than Sarkozy. What makes Obama so frightening is the host of puppet masters who manipulate his strings.
A delusional older friend was recently pontificating when he said regarding the economy "...what Obama is trying to do...blah, blah, blah...." I didn't have the energy to explain to him that this president, and many others (think Reagan)hardly sit around all day worrying about our welfare or our nation's best interests. When Obama speaks, he is really the mouthpiece for the likes of George Soros and/or Z.Brezinski.
When I see Obama, I just can't shake that he is nothing but a very intelligent lawyer and community organizer and that's about it. I've mused before that he will either be the final President of our Republic or its first dictator when the Constitutional Amendment limiting presidential terms is suspended. Imagine 2034, and the 73 year old "Premier" Obama, his 70 year old wife Michelle and their daughters, Malia 35 and Sasha 33 still representing Amerika. Would that be weird of what?
