Lot's of fire can occur after a major earth quake. I agree, given plate tectonics there just has to a lot of additional stress being placed on the San Andrus. Rebirth is possible in life, no matter how many tries it takes!!! I have an opinion, you just might not like it!!! |

Quoting: Chris Thats all You GET 777176matter of fact im certain something soon should happen with the San Andreas fault.. Check out the patterns on IRIS, you can see there has been some activity on the west coast of the American continent. So far, California is void of activity, but I'm with you, that may change real soon. Could be the San Andreas fault, or the Juan de fuca, which would result in a shift exactly like the 2004 quake in Indonesia. As a resident of california, I would prefer to take my chances with the San Andreas. There has been speculation, that if the Juan De Fuca slips, it will create a tsunami up to 150' high, with a 15 minute warning, just enough time to turn every road into a parking lot. |

Parkfield is already lighting up. for those of you not familiar with Parkfield (central calif), it is the most highly monitored city on earth for EQ's, as it is the hub of the San Andreas fault, and also the epicenter of the huge quake in the 1800's (fort Tejon), that sent a crack in the earth from Parkfield to San Bernadino, in minutes. That is now the I5 corridor, which is sparsely populated on the central part of the state, but super high density once it hits LA. [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] |

If that blows, California and much of Nevada and Arizona, goes with it. |
