A Baptist church will hold a book burning which will include The Bible (non-KJV), works by the Pope, Mother Theresa, Billy Graham
North Carolina church to burn ‘Satan’s books,’ including works of Mother Teresa

A Baptist Church near Asheville, N.C., is hosting a "Halloween book burning" to purge the area of "Satan's" works, which include all non-King James versions of the Bible, popular books by many religious authors and even country music.

The website for the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, N.C., says there are "scriptural bases" for the book burning. The site quotes Acts 19:18-20: "And many that believed, came and confessed and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts, brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed."

Church leaders deem Good News for Modern Man, the Evidence Bible, the New International Version Bible, the Green Bible and the Message Bible, as well as at least seven other versions of the Bible as "Satan's Bibles," according to the website. Attendees will also set fire to "Satan's popular books" such as the work of "heretics" including the Pope, Mother Teresa, Billy Graham and Rick Warren.

"I believe the King James version is God's preserved, inspired, inerrant and infallible word of God," Pastor Marc Grizzard told a local news station of his 14-member parish.

Grizzard's parish website explains that the Bible is the "final authority concerning all matters of faith and practice," for Amazing Grace Baptist Church. In the Parish doctrinal statement, Grizzard expounds that "the Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning, and all issues of interpretation and meaning shall be determined by the preacher."

The event also seeks to destroy "Satan's music" which includes every genre from country, rap and rock to "soft and easy" and "Southern Gospel" and" contemporary Christian."

David Lynch, a resident of nearby Asheville, N.C., told Raw Story "it's a little disconcerting how close this is to my home."

"They are burning so much stuff I've dubbed them the hypocritical Christian Taliban," Lynch said in a phone interview with Raw Story. "Just the scope of all the information they want to destroy is pretty disturbing."

Church leaders did not respond to Raw Story's requests for comment, but the website notes they will be providing "bar-b-que chicken, fried chicken and all the sides" at the book burning.

Other than the country music burning, that's pretty retarded.

The ultimate question is this: How can there be different versions of the complete, inspired and inerrant word of God?

Logic and commons sense dictate that either: (1) one version is right and all others are wrong, or (2) all versions are wrong.

All Christians reject the notion that all versions of the Bible are wrong, and the Baptists are merely asserting that the KJV is the one version which is right.

Nothing revolutionary here.

I believe that they are all wrong. The original wasn't broken up into chapters or verses like it is today; they were a collection of writings from various people, with the 12 apostles included. Personally, i find that simply following the wisdom that Jesus brought, and believing in God, the Father who art in Heaven, on Jesus. Not worshipping Jesus, but worshipping the Father. All the religions are just seeded with tidbits of the truth to ensare your physical and spiritual selves. Jesus didn't come to be worshipped, he came to show you the escape route out of the prison that we are in. He didn't come to convert, for the beings of darkness walk amongst us to decieve, the majority of which do not know that is their purpose. Most of those individuals are correct when they say that they truly do not feel God's presence.

They are not of Him, but rather the Devil's (who is not a physical thing, but rather a very ancient spiritual one) attempt at copying what God had made, and so they have no connection to the true Creator. If they would believe, however, they too would be saved. I feel sorry for the Baptists, for they truly believe that what they preach is truth, terrified of the thought that perhaps God's most beautiful creation could have decieved them, and go through their life never truly feeling the presence of the Creator. Too many live their lives in fear, or are quick to anger and raised tensions which release energy that only serve as food to the devil. The great trick. . . I have no links, for true knowledge comes when you simply ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with the Word. My parents said when i was a toddler (5 or 6) i used to ask them all sorts of questions and tell them that they were wrong (they raised me as Baptist... tried to, anyway).

When i got older, they would always get that hopeless look in their eyes, wanting to question, but the Church had instilled so much fear into them that they could not. They have since opened their eyes slightly, and i believe they are moving towards the correct path. If anyone's interested ill put together all my thoughts and make a post of my own when i get a chance. If not, i'd rather not waste my time, as it'd be a long, long post.

the only thing i know is that i know nothing.

Re: A Baptist church will hold a book burning which will include The Bible (non-KJV), works by the Pope, Mother Theresa, Billy Graham
This is really a shame, and a step backwards for Christians everywhere. These poor misguided souls may have crossed the line between worshiping the Living God, and worshiping a book.
"The word of God is living and active, sharper than a two-edged sword, able to cleave between spirit and soul". Paul calls the written word by itself "dead". It's just words on paper. What brings it to life is the inspiration of the Holy Spirit -- and we sell that Spirit grievously short if we seek to limit Him like this. The Bible (KJV or otherwise) is an exceedingly rich source of wisdom; but it is the power of God's Spirit that breathes life into it and into all things.
God speaks through ALL things. "All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose". Even things we might have first thought "sold to Satan". Look at Job. A process that at first seemed entirely bankrupt and evil, was turned to great good because God is more powerful than Satan.

These poor souls seem to have forgotten this, trading a life of freedom in Christ for one of bondage in fear of Satan possibly being stronger than the One True God.

John 4

He warns us to test all teachings before accepting them

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

Actually, Rev. Graham is NOT a mason.

(from www.masonicinfo.com)
Reverend Billy Graham - Sometimes referred to as 'America's Minister', Rev. Graham is frequently identified as a Mason by religious intolerants whose ideology is different from his. They feel, apparently, that connecting him with Freemasonry will smear his outstanding abilities and his life-long commitment to his faith. In the earliest days of the world wide web (we seem to recall it was about 1994), a listing of famous Freemasons appeared on the web site of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana, USA. Dr. Graham's name appeared on the list in error based on an assumption by the person who prepared it. (No, it isn't a conspiracy to hide anything! In fact, it's likely that the information may have come from the book by former Mason Jim Shaw who lied that he had received the 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite with Rev. Graham in attendance. Since Shaw never received that honor, clearly there is nothing to his claim. Read about it here!) Since then, though, unsubstantiated claims have flown about on the internet and one of the most frequent questions we receive dealing with specific individuals concerns Dr. Graham. The simple fact - as substantiated by his organization - is that he is FAR too involved with his ministry to devote time to any other organization. Like other recognizable leaders who are not Masons, Dr. Graham has from time to time been present at Masonic or Masonic-family events. There is a picture sometimes found on the web of him attending a DeMolay public installation of officers. Over his lifetime, Dr. Graham has attended thousands of meetings of groups. To state that Rev. Graham held Masonic membership simply based on his attendance was an assumption by that webmaster of the most absurd proportions. Regretfully, most of those who insist that Rev. Graham is a Mason are those who want to smear both him and the fraternity.
