I am writing up a formal report (for one of my graduate courses) and I need to know if I should sign my name like so, "JOHN DOE, B.S."?

Nah. It's a work of fiction. It's for my occupational studies course. The prof. wants us to write a made up report on back injury, etc... its an excercise.

It is not proper to put anything less than PhD (Dr) behind your name for educational designations.

That does not apply to vocational designations like "CPA"

And things like RN and BSN but only professionally.

Not for course assignments I wouldn't think. Might find Teaching aid and ask if they even still have such people.

Normally people here put the denomination afterwards.

Like 'John Smith MSc' however if they are a doctor some people have it as 'Dr John Smith' 'John Smith PhD' 'John Smith M.D'

I depends on the type of field, medical doctors are mostly called Dr, but its not unsuall to meet a chemist or biologist who is called a Dr.

I have seen people put 'John Smith BSc, MSc, PHD' On papers, cards etc.

In Canada it is BSc. And you can use it after your name whenever you like, except most people don't bother.

The thing is this. A BS is not really much of an accomplishment as it is the basic standard for most all entry level positions in mid size companies.

Big whoop if you know what I mean.

Better off not mentioning it but at the bottom of resumes in the education section.

A Masters is the first thing that sets you apart from the vast majorty of job applicants.
