Re: So has anyone here REALLY done astral travel?
Alright - here's my bit:

There is no "silver thread", and it's nothing like walking around (or flying, or w/e) in real life. This is hippie bullshit to help cancer patients displace their pain.

I am not going to have a pissing contest over Astral Travel.
In my meditation, I used the Universal Life Force of the silver thread. It became my spine becoming me. I left my apartment and I left the building. I felt like a newborn. It was amazing. The silver thread is the method of meditation I used to take me out. It can be there if you choose to apply it. It can also be Gold. I saw both but became silver. Good Luck.

I never had the silver thread or cord experience, but a good friend of mine who was experimenting with astral travel had this experience. I think it's different for everyone.

Yes, well, I was quite young and that is how I learned I could do it.

Who is Astral? Is she that mermaid chick?
Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support!

Seems like I had read where Shirley Maclaine had the silver cord experience. I always wanted to, but just never did. It's cool, though.

The use of that method really took me to the planets. I can view now with out travelling like that, and don't usually choose to be so extreme. It is wild.

" I felt defensless against the ravenous demons"

Thanks, I'll NEVER attempt it now.

Please don't.

Demons can act on the soulplane, just as they can act on the physical plane.

Travelling within the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ is your only protection.

Spiritual battles are made manifest on the soulplane.

Yes, I agree. I've heard the voice of the Lord in a spiritual battle I was in, either Jesus or a warring angel. His voice was the scariest voice I have ever heard in my life, if you would be on the negative receiving end that is. His voice sounded like a cross between thunder and a whooshing sound and a little electronic vibe to it also. Very weird voice, not like a human voice at all. I always think about that voice and how authoritative it was.

Once, when I was coming back to my body to wake up, the Lord let me see this demon standing by my bed. It looked almost exactly like the Ringwraiths of Lord of the Rings. So yeah, this stuff is real and not to be taken lightly.

very true.
similar to your story, once i was lying in bed, not asleep, but relaxed, and god showed me a glimpse of the demons under my bed. they began to crawl out from underneath, hissing, trying to feed into a childlike fear i used to have. i remember the weight shifting on the bed and i astrally projected out of my body, and jumped onto these beings. i was violent, though i am not a violent person. i was enraged at what these beings had done to others. i did not know why i was angry, but it felt like a divine anger i did not call my own but was bestowed through me, as if i were a tool of god. i jumped onto these creatures and began to throttle them, toss them away. i began to chase them, dozens of them turned into thousands, and they were running for their "lives". i felt another presence there with me, and it was god, and we took the form of two wolves, and together we bit into them and slaughtered them, and chased the remaining creatures into the depths of beyond.

i woke up shaking. i am not a hateful or rage-prone person. i deal with my anger logically and peacefully. but in this dream i was overcome with something righteous, something that turned me into a white wolf, something that cast judgment and asked me to carry out what needed to be done. and i remember my jaws crunching bones and black sludge blood splattering. and i remember the glory of god scattering, like someone said earlier, the evil like cockroaches. when i was thrown back into my body, i woke up shaken and it took me a few days to settle this event down in my mind.

god is incredible.

Yes, He definitely is incredible. Do you recognize Jesus as God?

I have to clarify something earlier about the voice I heard. It got me to thinking what that whooshing sound was that I heard, and the verse in Revelation came to mind of Jesus' voice and what it sounds like. It says this in Revelation 1:15 - "His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters." That's exactly what that whooshing sound was like, the sound of rushing waters. I think I might've actually heard Jesus Christ's voice. If so, I am very honored to have heard that. It was truly amazing.

see, here is where things get funny. i don't consider myself a christian, necessarily, though i do understand and relate to christianity.
jesus IS god? no. i love jesus. i see jesus as another best friend, just like buddha, just like many others who have come to earth with god in their hearts and light pouring from their eyes.
i see jesus as an old friend and perfect example. but do i believe jesus IS god? no.. no i don't. i see jesus as a clear facet of god, while many of us are still rather cloudy. i see jesus as someone who came to earth to show us what being a human being means. i see jesus as a person who said, we are all sons and daughters of god, and then had his words mixed up later down the road...

but i love jesus. he is an example i follow, though i do not worship my best friends, i love and adore them. there is a difference for me and that's why i do not call myself a christian, because this is the "core" of christianity.

i've accidentally woken up during sleep paralysis, couldnt move or nothing, was like i was totally parylized, i got scared did heavy and low breathing and broke free, i layed back down in a very tired state from forcing myself out of it, this happened anywhere from 2001 to 2003, also around or during that time i had a few obe's but got frightened and went back into the body like i awoke once and then awoke again, got scared and felt like i was slammed back into the body.

but that's all I could manage... i don't know if i was thinking too much... or what....

One of the problems you will encounter is that the harder you try, the more often you will fail. Kinda sucks, huh? But, that's just the way it goes.

Here is what I do (and please understand that every individual will have different ways to succeed, you just have to find your own!):

The easiest transition state for me is lucid dreaming. I guess I am one of the lucky ones in that I have lucid dreams nearly every other night. From there it is a very easy transition into the astral planes since the dream world is one aspect of the astral.

The other way, and this is more in tune with a 'classbook' OBE technique, is to first meditate with a goal in mind of going OBE. Then, when it doesn't happen because you are trying to hard - ;) - take a nap. Instead of trying for an OBE, just try and stay conscious as long as you can. If you can stay conscious long enough you will begin to feel funny things going on, like vibrations, numbness, funny sounds, etc. Normally the first couple times experiencing this, it kinda wakes you up. Just relax and try to go back to that state (on the edge of sleep) and remain conscious. You are really close to exiting. Keep practicing this method, and one day you'll get a big surprise and suddenly be out of body.

sickscent... i also tried last night and had very similar experience to the above poster!

It was weird to start to feel your body shut down... what i DID NOT feel however was the roll over impulse those videos talked about... either I was super confortable or something else... not sure.

it's good to know we were really close.... I did not feel like my brain was where it should be though.... when it happens is just all of a sudden from seeing black (eyes closed) to seeing everything... i'm confused on the transition a little and how awake we would be at that state..

IMHO, you are very close to the proper state of consciousness. I will not lie, it takes a lot of practice and a lot of control to remain balanced in that state. For some (a minority) it is natural for them and they claim it easy. But if it was easy for everyone, everyone would be doing it.

For me, and I have heard this from others, is stop thinking 'is this it? Is it about to happen?' Stop asking yourself questions and stop analyzing what you are feeling. Instead, just flow with it. Stay conscious, and just let go. You will notice that every time your ego wants to analyze it or ask questions, it pulls you a little more out of that state. So, enjoy the strange feelings and visions it brings you.

Remember, nothing can harm you, but you will begin to experience things you have never experienced before and so it might put a little fright into you. Think of that as you would a rollercoaster ride. Your body is your tabernacle and if anything that occurs is beyond your ability to cope with, you just get pulled right back into your body. Nice and safe, no worries. Get excited about the experience and say to yourself, 'I can't believe I can experience something like this!'

Once you have been through the experiences numerous times, you will realize how much your damn ego holds you back. Stop letting it analyze what is happening. You can do that after you get back in your body. The important part is to remain conscious and to remember the experience.

You won't always get the roll signal, it only occurs when the body is unsure whether your mind is actually awake or asleep.

Re: So has anyone here REALLY done astral travel?
ive had a short obe before, they usually happen when your sleep is disturbed early in the morning by unusual noises, i managed to roll out of my body to break free. not an easy task..

but on one occasion i was simply reading a book on my bed in the day time, and dropped off when it made my eyes very tired. i instantly popped out of my body with virtually no fuss, and was hovering a few feet above myself feeling great and in control. but then sombody called me and i had to go and respond so i had to think myself back into my body, which was also easy.

Have in mind somewhere that you want to go: Tahiti, the Himalayas, the moon; maybe you're curious as to how a far-flung relative is doing. Have a desire already present of somewhere you want to visit. Then, practice the body-numbing and such...

Relax and have fun with it. Too much seriousness kills the spontaneity that gets you off the ground. If nothing happens this time, then just take a nap (as suggested above). The real thing may happen to you from out the blue. Just be aware enough of when it does to note how it feels, so that you can replicate it later on. If you want an OBE, you will definitely GET an OBE.

Remember to play with it. This is not a competition.

Re: So has anyone here REALLY done astral travel?
gotta go for a bit, but a question for those who have experienced astral..

have you ever been "placed" into someone else's dream?
i say placed because i have never intended or meant to intrude, i am always PUT there by a force i do not control.
this has been confirmed twice by friends/family, and i have had many experiences i did not mention because i felt, in a sense, they would either not understand or, if they did, feel intruded by my presence there..

it is strange, they cannot see you if they are not very aware, and it's almost like my reality is distorted and quite literally imbedded in their reality. strange things like positions, structures, buildings meld together with other structures that do not make sense- my reality literally merging with theirs.

it was confusing for a while, and i haven't had another joint dream in a while. i think this is because i do not like intruding on other's private, intimate dreamworlds unless invited.. but i was wondering if anyone else has stumbled into a dream NOT of their own. any stories?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 786296

Interesting thread...

I've had a joint dream, AC. Still gives me 'chills' to think about it. It was MY dream... so I can't elaborate on the stumbling into someone else's dream.

I have had dreams while events happened... wake up and find out that my dream either occurred or it occurs in a future period.

This thread has me pondering those occurrences even more...

You are never asleep! So no, it does not feel like you just woke up. ...does it really feel like you were awake and then just popped right back into your body and are still awake? It feels just like that. And, if you popped back smoothly enough, your consciousness is still in the perfect frame of mind to replicate the experience, so you can do it again. In the beginning, most of the time you do not pop back smoothly because you are too excited that something happened.

Once it happens, as Robert Monroe says, you can never go back. It is life changing. Your dreams will become more vivid, your waking mind more clear.

become aquainted with astral tarvel as much as you can....

cause when you leave this world....

the astral realm will be your first stop....

on your way back home to nirvana....
Beyond one's own mind there is no dazzling light to come shining in from outside to wake one up. If one recognizes one's own intrinsic State as pure from the beginning and only temporarily obscured by impurities, and if one maintains the presence of this recognition without becoming distracted, then all the impurities dissolve. This is the essence of the Path-namkhai norbu.

Why is there a legend about the descent of Christ into hell? The Teacher addressed the lower strata of the astral world, saying: Why, by cherishing earthly thoughts, bind oneself eternally to Earth? And many revolted in spirit and rose higher.
