If USA is in a Depression...why are people waiting outside stores for VIDEO GAMES???
Keep in mind this game has 3 versions and main version is going for 149.99 dollars!, what the fuck?

[link to www.news10.net]

SACRAMENTO, CA - Across the country fans stayed up late Monday night to get a copy of what is expected to be the biggest release of the year: the controversial video game "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2."

Players use machine guns, snipers, grenades and missiles to kill enemy soldiers in the game. The most intense depiction of violence takes place when players can choose to participate in a terrorist attack at an airport gunning down civilians.

Retailers including Best Buy and Walmart had a midnight release event for the video game that is expected to sell millions on its first day. Analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities says that "Modern Warfare 2" is the most pre-ordered game ever at Game Stop and Game Crazy Stores. Some stores have more than 1,000 reservations. Some local fans, got in line six hours before the game went on sale at places like the Best Buy in Natomas.

"It's probably the best first person shooter game for any video game system," said fan Jason Salizzoni.

"It's pretty cold out here. If it was snowing I'd be out here. It's part of it, part of the experience. I got three monster shots in my pocket and more ready when I get home," said fan Kevin Altwer.

This game is rated "M" for mature, it is only for teens and adults ages 17 and up.

Why are all the fat people eating out every night?

We have never been in a depression this century and still are not. This is a media created recession that is as false as the equity in your home.

You can't say that type of comparison, I doubt fat people are outside sleeping in the doors of stores to spend 149.99
on the latest hamburger, they got to Mcdonalds and get burgers for 1 to 2 dollars.

Wrong. That was a beta only.

PS - To the OP, you are exhaggeratting. The $150 collectors edition is hardly the most popular copy sold. The basic version @ $60 is the one 90% of the people will buy.

Wrong again. Game play will literally last 2-3 years. over 100k people still play Call of Duty 4 every night.

In essence, if you play the game online 2 hours per night only 3 nights a week you will have saved entertainment value over a movie within a matter of weeks, let alone years.

PS - Average game play is 10-20 hours on a standard game without online play.

That is as little as $3 per hour.

Do you read all the posts? Most people are paying $50-$60 on this. The $150 is not the most popular.

what do you spend on your internet bill? Ever stand in line for a sale for Christmas? Ever stand in line for a movie? How much is your cable bill?

All of these things is comparable. It appears you just don;t understand that many people find video games more entertaining than movies and TV. You do know there is online gaming that can go on as long as you like, right? You can replay the game in a wide variety of difficulty. So people will play this game, have a good time, and get better value and most likely more hours out of it than a monthly cable bill.

I am not a gamer (to old, to slow) but computers are a pretty cheap way to keep entertained or more.

Even more in a world with various work times, overtimes, people doing work abroad .. it would be really difficult to get people together on week days for some cards or other stuff people entertained themselves before tv and internet.

And online playing (i play some text based role plays .. very old school) has it´s advantages. I am in europe, while my group in america is mostly at work or still asleap i can watch out or react to alerts some guys frome asia mailed me before he went to bed.

That adds some nice 24h realism to the game.
