What lit the night sky in North Utah tonight?

It was a bird.

My son was driving west bound on hwy 138 and happened to look out his passenger window when it happened. Bright white flash lasting about 1-2 seconds lighting up the whole northern horizon.

Around 12:15 AM 11/18/2009 - I saw the same flash of light. It lasted for about 2 seconds as well. It was long enough to deduce it wasn't lightening. Not a storm cloud in the sky. I live in the SLC Valley zip code 84109. I live on the mountains and my house faces West. My friends that left my house around the same time saw the same flash.

I can't believe this light has been seen from Cali to Utah. Does this have anything to do with the meteor shower over the Leo constilation?

Meteors I've seen are more like incoming fireworks-streak across the sky.

I was driving home from work and saw this flash. Did not know wth it was, not a cloud in the sky. And the time they say it happens is right around when I saw it,, I live in central colorado!

That was a speed camera.

Its a meteor..the Leonid Meteor shower is in full gear right now, debris field from a comet.

Interesting that the shuttle just took off.
