Chaz Bono: "Gender is between your ears, not your legs"

If this is true, then why does Chaz feel the need to change what is between her legs? If gender were truly a matter of the mind, this change would not be necessary would it?

The truth, IMO, is that gender is a matter of neither mind nor body but culture and most of all expectations. There are periods of time and parts of the world where Chaz may have felt perfectly at home as a woman, because the expectations would have been differant.
