I'm going to go to school for a Real Estate lisc.

Any realtors out there? Can I make money my first year. I intend to keep my present job along with it.

I'm thinking about Remax.


Do you have to be in the bus. for 5 years before you can get a brokers lisc?

One class is offered at the community col. My second choice is a 7 day 40 hour class. What is the best choice?

You might want to re-think that and get certified as a building / home inspector. When they pass the "Crap and Scharade" tax thats where the money will be made because all homes will require a YEARLY inspection for "carbon" compliance at about $200.00 a pop !
And don't think for a second that TPTB will let this "climate gate" e-mail mess stand in their way !

remax is good, but aren't you in michigan? every long time realtor i know is hurting, many are looking for other things to do.
they are telling me it will be five or more years before it begins to change. although houses are selling, the best agents have those homes.

where i see growth right now is in helping people fix up the homes they have. i refinish hardwood floors

Real Estate has always interested me.

I'm worried it may be a bad investment at this time.
It takes some money to get into the field.

That is why I thought of getting in now before the market comes back and is flooded with new agents.

I know it is a bad market, but homes are selling.

and doing it while things are great has its downside as well, as everyone is doing the same thing


i am in spring lake/grand haven, pretty damn nice place to live, imho, and things are very slow

look into buying foreclosed homes and slowly fix it up. rents are still normal around here

say you sell 5 homes in your first year at sixty-thousand with a 5% commission.... Not bad money.

Yes I would have to keep a second job for the first year or so, but it would be extra income.

I'm all about making the money :)

I almost bought a home in Grand Haven, but found a bank repo elswhere. Got a great deal on it. I love my house.

no, I'm just your average out work construction worker.

Nothing wrong with that. You build it, I'll sell it!!

The $400 out of your pocket is only the beginning - and what you learn there is about a bunch of laws and names of things, Nothing about actually selling Real Estate,


Then, depending on which Agency you go with...there will be many other fees...most monthly...some more frequent, Never mind the higher car insurance you will have to carry in order to cart possible clients around.

In this kind of market what the Agencies are looking for are new blood, Meaning they only want you there to sell houses of those you know.

If you know a lot of people this may work for you.

Also, don't sign any contract with any Agency that does not allow you to leave, Some put a monetary figure (can be thousands) if you decide to leave and try another Agency within a year...or other stipulated time.

Only the experienced agents with some money saved are making it in RE today, at least in my state. I now see many ex agents from my town working in Home Depot or Lowe's
